Just thought you guys should know CHIVAS USA will be Americas team like the Cowboys. I mean come on team colors: red, white, and blue. All players will be U.S. born. Just like Chivas with all Mexican players and Saprissa with all Costa Rican players. And finally with a name like CHIVAS UNITED STATES OF AMERICA there is no question about it CHIVAS will be Americas team.
p.s. even the uniform looks like the American flag!!!

Wonderful.
Of course, to the best of my knowledge the only office space Chivas USA possesses at the moment is in Tijuana, Mexico. Get back to me when Chivas USA decides on a city on the US within which to play.

Hey buddy, hehh.. where do I begin?
As much as I would like to believe that Chivas-USA will be "America's team", reaility and facts come into play. Even the Dallas Cowboys are not "America's team" Did you know that 15,000 season ticket holders of the Cowboys are Mexicans who LIVE in Monterrey? Thats a separate issue anyways.
You need the facts. Chivas-USA has been hosting tryouts for "new blood" which these new players will 99% chance be the ones playing for Chivas-USA if granted a team in 2005. Well, the tryouts have only been held in a few American cities: Los Angeles, Houston, and San Diego (I'm not sure if I got that right, maybe San Antonio or Dallas instead of Houston). Regardless, do you notice anything about those cities? Its not exactly Seattle, New York, Milwaukee, Atlanta, or Boston.. do I have to tell you why or can you figure it out? Also, in those tryouts, all instructions and promotions for the tryouts were in Spanish. I wish they still posted it, but I saw the list of all the people who paid the fee and allowed to try out for Guadalajara (Chivas) a few months back in those American southwest cities... Every single person of the 300 names that tried out for the team had a Spanish last name. Here is Chivas' website that gives info on how to tryout for a "new blood" (new team). By the way, all remaining tryouts will be held IN Mexico, which is not part of the U.S. I believe.

Chivas USA being "America's Team" is like saying illegal immigrants are real American patriots. Both should never be let into the country!

Ahhh, so classy. Once again, no matter how f-ing hard we try, somebody can't help but equate Mexicans = Illegal Immigrants.
And what is a "real American patriot"? Someone who fights for their country? Would you like to see the statistics of first-generation Mexican Americans(some who's parents are of questionable legality) who fight for this country?
You really should A) never post here again and B) get your head out of your ass.
The ironic thing about your post is that neither illegal immigrants aren't "let in". They sneak in, dip$hit. If they were "let" in, they'd be legal.

Shouldn't dcrpoop get yellow carded?
illegal immigrants aren't "let in".
whilst I agree w/ you in spirit Calexico, truly, if our govt. really wanted to stop the flow of cheap labor, they would fine companies something like $1 million for hiring illegals, instead of paltry $10K and up. No jobs up here, no immigrants.

I might be against Chivas USA and you might be a Metro supporter just like myself, but a statement like this makes me wish I had absolutely nothing in common with you. You have no clue what life is like for people outside this country, so do us all a favor and shut the f@#$ up!

It is called promoting the team to the fun loving footie crowd that the MLS has not been able to get to assist to their games. Building a fan base and giving those kids and opportunity they wouldnt get with the current MLS structure.. Now Mr Ace i dont understand your hattred torwards Chivas USA. You come from Florida which had two MLS teams fold. You as a fan failed the league therefore you have no rights in voicing your opinion on what Chivas USA should do. You can Jinx the team !!! jeebus man dont you want this league to survive.. .

The guys a flaming troll, but he does make one point. If Chivas USA wanted to be like the Mexican and Costa Rican Chivas clubs, then they should only play US citizens. No Senior Internationals or Transitional Internationals or Green Card holders. Instead, they seem to be going the other way.

Did you know that 15,000 season ticket holders of the Cowboys are Mexicans who LIVE in Monterrey?
Do you have a link for that? That's a ton of ppl to be moving every other weekend in the fall. I'm sure Dallas and Monterrey airports can handle it, but that's a huge #.
Well, the tryouts have only been held in a few American cities: Los Angeles, Houston, and San Diego.
None of these cities have over 50% Latinos. Non-Latinos were not "banned" from trying out; in fact, many did. In fact, one of the guys that impressed the most was black. Also bear in mind that not all Latinos are mestizo: there are blacks, asians, europeans, middle easterners, etc.
Regardless, do you notice anything about those cities? Its not exactly Seattle, New York, Milwaukee, Atlanta, or Boston.. do I have to tell you why or can you figure it out?
Why throw NY into the mix? Are you not aware that only 4 or 5 capital cities in the Spanish speaking world have more Spanish speakers than NYC? And let's not forget NYC cultural contributions to the Spanish speaking world (salsa, to name just one).
I wish they still posted it, but I saw the list of all the people who paid the fee and allowed to try out for Guadalajara (Chivas) a few months back in those American southwest cities... Every single person of the 300 names that tried out for the team had a Spanish last name.
Did you not know that Chivas Guadalajara has a policy that only Mexican born players are allowed to play? So why be surprised by this? Truly, these "tryouts" are more promotions for the team, an attempt to get better t.v. ratings and merchandise sales. And I would be shocked if every last name had a Spanish origen. First of all, let's quantify what you mean by "Spanish": Castilian? I doubt that of 300 chavales, there was not one "Salgado", which, btw, is Portuguese, not Spanish. (It means "salty/salado.") No French, Italian, Catalan, German last names? Doubtful.

It's because of ignorants like you that the United States has such a bad image throughout the world.
I'm not mexican myself, but I have lived there for three years now, and your comments does nothing but anger me..why do u insist on criticizing mexicans? Are you that much better? come on dude, think about it.
So what if they want to make a chivas USA team...good for them, it sure is good business and gives the poorer people a chance to get out of their daily lives cheering for a soccer team.

I agree with your point, here in mexico there are lots of other nationalities blended in the last names, many are german, portuguese, italian and even american...

Don't confuse the issue with logic. Still, you must admit, the very name 'Chivas USA' is itself ironic. More than that, it could be an oxymoron.

oxymoron: contradiction in terms
Chivas USA: a contradiction in terms? Only if you do not consider Mexican-Americans not American. But THAT (mexican-americans are not american) is a contradiction in terms.

It would be if you considered Chivas a manifestation of a Mexican superiority complex.

I don't mind the idea of Chivas USA--or its potential approach of fielding a team of norte americanos, but how successful would that be, besides the immediate fan base of course? MLS is a good, new league, and I wish it did much better against other CONCACAF league winners, but its still a professional league. I'm a former college player that's played pickup games against guys who tried out with SJ and other teams that weren't picked up, but were just head and shoulders above anybody on the field without really trying, and if these guys can't make it with all of their dedication I doubt an open tryout is going to yield a bunch of unknown talent of the right caliber. My guess is the new Chivas USA full international roster will be as many popular mexican league players they can lure north of the border, followed by as many 2nd generation guys who went to college here or maybe have dual citizenship (can you say ryan suarez?). Anything to improve the league...

oxymoron: contradiction in terms
Not a contradiction, according to my Webster's, but seeming contradictions that prove true: cold comfort, deliberate speed, friendly fire.
So there.
