Alright, time to cap off a pretty underwhelming season with an astonishing awards gala, the moments all players have been anticipating the entire year. A star studded red carpet event. Let the champagne flow!

Player of the Year -

1. Ribery - The most important and influential player we have. Again, without him our season would look even bleaker. It is very sad to see just how much we depend on him but it is also a massive credit to what a world class player he is.

2. Ze Roberto - Slowed down towards the end of the season but throughout has been invaluable due to his high reading of hte game, he is one of the few players that can play alongside the likes of Ribery and provide an intelligent plan and creativity.

3. Lahm - Consistent as ever, really established himself as the best LB in Europe. Vital to our attack and defense. Priceless as far as our quality goes.

4. Klose - He would have been higher were it not for his injuries. Fantastic contribution all around

Young Player of the Year (U21) - Thomas Mueller. Exciting when he was given time, a lot of potential in this kid

Most Improved Player of the Year - This one was tough to decide. I could have gone with Klose because he was for once consistent throughout the year or Sosa who started to turn up in the second half of the season or even MvB who started absolutley woefully but eventually became quite solid and consistent. In the end I'll give it to Klose because he had such a bright and consistent season, especially after a horrible second half to the 07/08 season.

Most Disappointing Player of the Year - Yikes, I feel like I can create a team of disappointing players, a lot of them I wasn't expecting much to begin with so I took a player who really had no obstacles such as injuries or being played out of position. In the end I decided on three players.

1. Demichelis - WTF? Thats the only thing I have to add about him.
2. Schweinsteiger - Is he ever going to turn up?
3. Rensing - Third because his backline wasn't exactly reassuring.

Worst Player of the Year - Lell. There isn't really anything to add.

Best Defender - Lahm

Best Midfielder - Ribery

Best Attacker - Miro

Unsung Hero - Toni because he doesn't get enough credit for what he does off the ball.

Goal of the Season - Off the top of my head Ribery's free kick goal

High Point of the Season - The aggregate victory of Sporting

Low Point of the Season - The many debacles in the league, loss to Bremen and Wolfsburg especially.

Feel free to add your own.

Good list FR! (and good thread idea!)

As a disappointment, I still have to say Toni. Yes, I understand his contributions, but still WAY too many offsides, too many missed sitters, and too much flopping when he's usually the biggest human on the pitch.

My low point? Getting the SH!T beat out of us at the Nou Camp. That's when that dream ended and clearly showed us where we aren't as a club.

Unsung Hero - Toni because he doesn't get enough credit for what he does off the ball.

Like running offside :D

Anyway, my GOALS OF THE YEAR:

1) Ribery vs. Barca
2) Podolski vs. Sporting (2nd leg, back to goal)

The way we played and lost to Barcelona was the lowest....The whole world saw it and it dented our reputation badly.

Most disappointing player to me was Demichelis..we know what he can do but didn't deliver..second is Toni. Geez.

I thought about the loss to Barcelona but I didn't include it because I pretty much saw it coming. I was surprised it wasn't more than 4-0 to be honest.

Player of the Year -

Lahm - Has been the best player and the most consistent. Unlike others, I don't put significance of attackers into this, which is why most do and why almost defenders never win any title even though they deserve to.

Ribery - Inconsistent in the league, incredible in Champions League.

Klose - Would be higher in the list if he didn't get injured in the most important part of the season.

Young Player of the Year (U21) - Hmmm interesting one.. I would probably give it to Mueller, he plays well when on the field though our club sucks at actually giving somebody a chance when they deserve it.

Most Improved Player of the Year - Van Bommel. I wanted to kill him in the beginning of the season as he got a red card and played like garbage. Lost his starting place and regained it later. He's still not good enough mind you but not completely terrible as he was early in the season. Podolski turned it up big time and helped us out the last games of the season.

1. Van Bommel
2. Podolski

Most Disappointing Player of the Year - Hmmmm interesting one. I'm not sure why Schweini would be there over Toni, he scored 9 goals and 14 assists or so this season which is still much better than your 4th best player of the season's Ze Roberto's stats.

1. Luca Toni - Offsides, crap finishing, cannot play well with others and annoying diving. I hate divers.
2. Van Bommel - Average and the weak link.
3. Demichellis - .. Just dissapointed.
4. Rensing - Should of used his chances better, would still give him 1 more year.

Worst Player of the Year - Lell. It really is not a hard choice at all. 4th choice next season and don't want him to play more than 10 games.

Best Defender - Lahm

Best Midfielder - Ribery

Best Attacker - Klose

Unsung Hero - Schweinsteiger. Yes, I know he's been average but scores more than Ze and assists much more. If he was more consistent this season, he would of had 10+ goals and around 20 assists which would be a world class season for many players imo. He's had more goals and assists than any of his previous seasons. He's at least improved, though he still has a lot more to give. A lot more..

Goal of the Season - Hmmmmm Can't say I remember one that was incredible in particular, maybe the Podolski one vs Sporting.
High Point of the Season - Sporting destruction

Low Point of the Season - Barcelona destruction

not much to quibble about there.

for me, however, Klinsmann was the biggest disappointment followed closely by Rensing. I thought both would do better, but perhaps my expectations were too high.

Strange how this season, everyone was so worried about not qualifying for the CL that no one's mentioned this is the 2nd time in three seasons that we finished with no silverware.

Player of the Year -
1. Lahm- Consistency wins it for me on this one.
2. Ribery- can tear opposition to pieces on his day yet he can't be blamed for the average performances he had in which the opposition would just park themselves on the left.
3. Ze Roberto- Fan favorite for obvious reasons but I honestly think its kind of pathetic when a 34 year old can out pace and out maneuver his fellow players. AHEM...Schweinsteiger... AHEMEMEM

Young Player of the Year (U21) - Unfortunately, not much to choose from so i will go with Mueller.

Most Improved Player of the Year - Klose- he was pretty poor the second half of last season and was performing on a similar level the first month or so but got better and better as the season progressed.
Most Disappointing Player of the Year -
So many to myriad of options:
1. Van Bommel: I didn't know he was going to be this bad as a DM last summer.
2. Schweinsteiger: Uli would be smart to sell this dick face while he's still overhyped.
3. Rensing: I know it was his first season as numero 1 but nevertheless he should have at least played to the level of Butt, who was good enough.

Worst Player of the Year - Unanimous decision: Christian Lell

Best Defender - Lahm

Best Midfielder - Ribery

Best Attacker - Miro

Unsung Hero - I'll say it, Daniel Van Buyten. People think he's shit but he could easily start for the current Real Madrid squad.
Goal of the Season - Luca Toni's goal against Hertha Berlin. Really, I can't remember any good goals so I picked the one i remembered the most.

High Point of the Season - Win over Hoffenheim.
Low Point of the Season - Loss against Koln, Wolfsburg, and Bremen.

This is Ze's highest-scoring season ever in a Bayern uniform, if I'm not mistaken.

That is very telling isn't it?

And the team is supposed to be good enough according to Uli.

Player of the Year - Ribery, Lahm, Klose

Young Player of the Year (U21) - Nothing much to say here.

Most Improved Player of the Year - Klose

Most Disappointing Player of the Year - Not a player, but Klinsmann was a huge dissapointment, and then Rensing.

Worst Player of the Year - Lell

Best Defender - Lahm

Best Midfielder - Ribery

Best Attacker - Klose

Unsung Hero - van Bommel

Goal of the Season - Klose goal in Lyon

High Point of the Season - First half in Lyon, trashing of Stuttgart in the cup, and of course 12 goals vs Sporting

Low Point of the Season - Barcelona embarrasment, and the loses against Köln, Wolfsburg, and Werder Bremen.

What does it say about Borowski that he has not been mentioned in this thread? Usually players not lauded as the best (Ribery, Lahm, ZeRo) or chided as the worst (Lell!!) are solid squad players that tow the middle line between performance and mediocrity. But I can't say this about Borowski, and to me he is just an absolute annual waste of 5m Euros. Could we please for the love of all that's holy offload him in the summer? It astounds me he is on this team. I hate Tim Borowski, more than Christian Lell, because while Lell has shown with his performances this season that he is comically unsuited for Bayern, Tim Borowski I fear will skate by into next season. Anyhoo:

Player of the Year - Ribery. Was the factor in our resurgence in the first half of the season, and played a greater role than anyone else in us securing an automatic CL spot. Lahm a close second, followed by Ze Roberto.

Young Player of the Year - Not Applicable.

Most Improved Player of the Year - Mark van Bommel. Klose misses out on this due to injury.

Most Disappointing Player of the Year - Demichellis wins by a landslide, especially after his stellar performance last season. Schweini continued from last season with his consistent inconsistency, so there being a historical precedence makes it less of a disappointment for me.

Worst Player of the Year - Lell, the player who makes you wonder just why we even bothered with a four man backline.

Best Defender - Lahm, followed by Lucio.

Best Midfielder - Ribery, with whom ZeRo was level in the first half of the season, but ZeRo fell just behind in the second season as he slowed down, probably and understandably due to fatigue.

Best Attacker - Klose

Unsung Hero - Lucio

Goal of the Season - Ribery's 30m blast against Karlsruhe (I think?)

High Point of the Season - Finishing the first half of the season tied on points with the Hoff

Low Point of the Season - Barcelona schlaking, and the countless missed opportunities to take advantage of our opponents slipping up (Gladbach draw 2-2, Stuttgart draw 2-2, Cologne loss, etc. etc.)

Let me get this straight. You hate Borowski because he didn't play BAD enough??

Player of the Year - Lahm- Consistently a threat on offense, and a brick wall on defense. Best defender in the world IMO.

Young Player of the Year (U21) - Mueller Mueller Mueller! Only appeared 3 or so times, but everytime he ran his butt off like someone who truly wants to make an impression and break into the team. More of our subs need to look like this

Most Improved Player of the Year - Van Bommel- Hit probably the lowest point of his career in the first month of the season, got benched, and then came back more disciplined, as a good captain, and even became an offensive threat(even though he only scored twice all season).

Most Disappointing Player of the Year -

1. Rensing- I had/still have high hopes for him. Losing him this summer would be a bad move, as I believe he has the determination, even if he is the backup next year, to do what needs to be done to reclaim that no. 1.

2. Luca Toni- Love him, but he just was not as effective as last season.

3. Schweinsteiger- With the exception of 2 or 3 games, he was not an offensive threat, and just ineffective for most of the season. Hopefully if he plays more of a center role next season he can be more effective.

Worst Player of the Year - Lell. hands down

Best Defender - Lahm

Best Midfielder - Ze Roberto. I would normally say ribery, but Ze was far more consistent and without him and Lahm, Ribery would have been a sad sight on the field this season

Best Attacker - Miro

Unsung Hero - Van Bommel. People don't like his style of play, and get on him about yellow cards, but he was very good about staying clean most of the season, and was pivotal in directing the motion of the ball.

High Point of the Season - First match of the restart against Stuttgart in the Cup

Low Point of the Season - The two months after said high point.

we know. that's why Klinsi had to go.

You and Bayern_Scam need to let your Klinsmann hate go....please explain how Klinsi kept us from winning the hardware in the other of the two seasons...Wake said 2 out of the past 3 seasons...I'll give you this past season (just for argument's sake...), but PLEASE tell me how he had a hand in the other season that we didn't take a title... Maybe he was already working his hypnosis that got him the job in the first place...why haven't either of you acknowledged that Uli wanted him to begin with?

You two guys have a clear hate agenda against Klinsmann and you've both registered your case on numerous occasions. And it seems that the two of you are really the only ones that still care about it. You're both closed minded and just look for any reason to spew your crap....it's gotten OLD. The rest of us are just plain sick of hearing you guys...
