What drills, exercises, stretches, etc could do or tips could one give to increase the velocity of the ball when struck?

Strike the ball with the bridge of your foot and get over the ball, normally people either have the power or they don't

Along with all the other things people have said.....curl your toes when u strike the ball...i was just playing wit my friend yesterday and told him to curl his toes in...and his shot improved tons...it gives more power and i notice more velocity..hope that helps

PS: shoot....shooot.....shoooooooot.............tonz n tonz of balls a day!

1. approach from an angle
2. get plant foot along side ball, about 6 inches apart. If planted BEHIND, you will lift the ball.

3. Get head over the ball and KEEP IT DOWN
4. Hit ball with your instep (top part/laces area), with knee over the ball (leg will be bent at this point.
5. Follow thru, so that it is a flowing motion. Dont punch the ball; direct it in a continuous motion.

practice makes perfect.

try this....put a shirt on the floor...try and lift them up with your toes...its like making a fist with your feet....i liek to put it this way...it hurts more when you punch someone ( with a fist)...then slapping someone ....so there's more power when you curl ur toes in,...hope that clears it up

Why would curling your toes in even help when you don't even hit the ball with your toe? I don't get it

Well I think the point is to tighten your foot which not only increases power but decreases chance of injury. I was taught to lock the ankle before striking the ball, and by squeezing your foot together (curling the toes) you tighten your foot like a hammer or something really heavy and hard. If it's loose then you lose power.
