I know it seems like 1% chance, but why doesn't the club load up the money truck and arrange a deal with Hiddink that allows him to remain as Blues manager while still giving him as much time as he wants with Russia?

Let him coach 75% of the EPL games -
100% CL
Time off for Carling and early FA cup

Then after World Cup is over he starts 2010 season as full time 100% Chelsea manager

Has anything like this even been discussed or is he determined to leave?

I think given the fact that the WC is just around the corner, it would be extremely hard for an older guy like Hiddink to be able to manage on both fronts. I can't see him working 100% for both teams and that's not fair to either of them.

I'm still of the view that other than right around the tournement and matches, there is very little real work for an international manager, but that would not sit well with Putin and politics is the main problem in keeping Guus I think; however I'd be for making a commitment both ways with Guus, let him pick an interim this whole year, and I'm sure Guus would find time for an e-mail or phone call or two; this way we could start down the road with a cohesive longer term vision and plan tied into transfer policy from someone who Roman trusts and has the fan's support and is strong enough to get his way.

Otherwise we will get the clown Ancelootti, or the like, a muddled transfer policy with him wanting some, Arnesaan wanting some, Pini, that other scandanavian bloke and PK and lord knows who else wanting a say, and then having to start again after Carlo busts (I pray not if he comes, but seems likely)

That I agree with.

I believe the management will seek a long term solution much like they did with Mourinho. Zola is a future prospect but needs more experience as a manager in the EPL. Moyes might be a consideration as he has done well with Everton but I don't believe he has the high profile to attract top European footballers.

However, it looks as if Ancelotti will be the choice as Roman has shown condiderable interest in him. So we have to be prepared to accept his choice and support Ancelotti if he comes.

slim just walked out the door.

It aint happening, not now. COULD we see him come back after 2010? sure we could, but that would just mean that whoever we get next would either

a) be a lame duck manager

OR (more likely)

b) ******** up to the point where he lasts only a year, not the best trend here, or even the best sign for incoming managers. No matter how bad they were, it doesnt look good for incoming managers that we have gone thru managers so quickly. I dont know if this will have an effect in any search we may have this summer, but I wouldnt be surprised if it does

Ladies and Gents,

If there is interest in this please let me know. How about a new Chelsea Manager Thread as the topic of the next manager/replacement for Hiddink is being discussed on numerous fronts. It may be easier to have the majority of the discussion in one thread. If not, let normal service resume but if so lets go with that thread and we can merge/move most of the relevant posts into that thread.

Just an idea.

Thanks.

I'm still hoping that Ancelotti doesn't come, but the downside to that is that Rijkaard will most likely be Roman's second choice.

There's talk about Spalletti being a candidate for the Juventus job. And I've read that Ancelotti really wants the Roma job and might be willing to wait for it.

What do you guys think?

Hm. Scolari for Ancelotti. Might potentially be the first time we get the better end of a deal between us and Milan

It seems Milan is destined to make themselves known as the Italian Brazil.

Carlo Ancelotti is expected to walk away with Chelsea his most likely destination, but the two tacticians could be about to exchange places.

*Laughing for a minute or two*
Awfully kind to Scolari with that tactician talk.

From Roman's point of view, Ancellotti is the best manager he can hire. He would take whoever the boss gives him and work the best out of it without any complain. He's the dream employee for any boss.

Are you a Chrysler boss:p:D

unless of course the boss cares about putting forth the best product and making money then the one who can produce the best most efficently might take precedence over a kiss ass
