I could have used that a couple weeks ago, as I did get lost for about 30 minutes. :p

Jeez, that was quick.

Did you at least get a good deal? And, was it the "full meal deal" with the cadence/HR/and map dvd?

For a cyclist, I would say you showed an incredible amount of restraint. Hardly an 'impulse buy.' You stuck it out for nearly 13 hours before pulling the trigger. Congratulations.

thank you:D

i did get a killer deal as our shop sells garmin so i just called them up and got the employee pricing. this purchase all results from a training ride in Boone a few weeks ago. we past a few elevations that i knew from living there a couple years and mapmyride.com was off almost 400 feet. so i want something that is a tad more accurate. garmin does say on their site that gps elevation can be off +/-400 feet. this has barametric pressure so it's not precise but it is close.

now with the 705, i can run power and have it linked seamlessly. i am now thinking of getting a powertap when i get a set of wheels. i am going to quit the shop soon to get a big boy job in a cubical so i am buying everything cheap while i can.

Now you are going to HAVE TO BUY the new wheels. You are going to need to drop a few ounces somewhere to account for the bulk that the Garmin is going to add to those hill climbs.

Nice! Get that Powertap before you leave. :p

I have to say I am a sucker for the toys as well, but a Powertap and what they cost would probably be a waste on me. I always get sticker shock when I see how much they are.

I really would be curious on the Garmin and how it works for you. I have had my eye on them for a year or so, but have always showed (remarkable) restraint. :p

Like how is the battery power, does it go out occasionally, etc...

powertaps for us are quite cheap. since i got the 705 i don't need anything else but the hub.

i am curious to the issues garmin has been having with the 305/705. they just released a new update this week or last that is suppose to remove a lot of the quirks. they had the same issues when the 305 came out and they corrected those in time.

AHHHHHHHHHH ********
i got to work today with a note on my work bench that said for me to call the garmin empolyee purchase lady. when i got a hold of her, she told me she quoted me the wrong price for the 705. she explained that it was a mistake on her part, and a honest one at that, and that she would give me an extra 10% off as a nice gesture. too bad the additional cost to me is about $150.

so what to do now!!!!????!!!

You gotta have it at this point. You would pay an extra $500 if they told you to.

Ken Kessler: Check it out, my man! Thirty feet of thigh-slapping, blood-pumping nuclear brain damage!
Heavy Metal Kid: Bitchin'! Hey, what's it ********ing cost?
Ken Kessler: That's the bitchin' part about it! It don't matter! If you can't afford it, ********ING FINANCE IT!

uh oh, deep thought and perspective may yet triumph over impulse and instant gratification.

Either way, I am jealous.

i got the 305. it will be here wednesday... i really wanted the 705 but i don't have the money to spend on it because of other "needs" like wheels and a new grouppo. also helps me save from buying the powertap....
