I know we just went through regional attire but i have to ask. I heard for state cup they pick like three that referees need to bring. (both LS and SS) This is true, or do you need all 5(well really 10!)?

Unless you hear otherwise, bring everything. Or, if you know what teams you will be doing, you could only bring the jerseys you may need.

I think you are mistaking State Cup for a tournament where you go for a weekend or week. The reason why Regionals has requirements is because many referees are traveling a long way and this is designed to help lighten the load as well as help out less experienced referees who may not have all the jerseys.

It all depends on your state. Ask your SYRA. They are usually the one in charge of these things.

Last year after many referees bought the blue and green, Region 1 sent out a notice that gold, black, and red would be the only uniforms allowed, so leave your other stuff at home. I heard a rumor the other night that they might do that again, but I don't know for sure. Definitely ask your SYRA if he or she knows. If you ahve them all. bring them all, as they should tell you at the meeting on the first night. If you don't need some, you can always leave them in your room.

Region 1 is again requesting the 3 original colors this year. The Referee Information Sheet on region1.com was just updated yesterday and includes this paragraph:

All referees attending the 2009 Region I Championships are mandated to bring the following Referee jerseys
: Yellow Shirt, Short and Long Sleeve and Old or New style is acceptable; Red Shirt. Short and Long Sleeve and Old or New style is acceptable and Black Shirt, Short and Long Sleeve and Old or New style is acceptable.

i think that those are the only three that are mandatory, not accepted.

Last year those were the only ones accepted, and I was personally told that there was no change for this year by a member of the committee. They don't want to see us with the blue or green in West Virginia. Those NJ referees who are going will most likely carry them anyway, but only if they are already in our bags (true for most of us).

Not to beat a dead horse but if USSF officially says any and all colors/styles are acceptable, and last I checked, any of the regions fall under USSF auspices, how can Region one mandate 3 jersey colors? Or for that matter 4 or 5?

I guess it's like all those tournaments and local leagues that make illegal modifications to the Laws of the Game. If you accept an assignment, you hold your nose against the stink and enforce it anyway.

If you accept an assignment to Regionals, you wear what they want you to wear. Even if it goes against official USSF policy. That doesn't mean you have to like it, though. Nor that you have to silently accept the policy without question. All it means is that you have to temper your response or risk being uninvited.
