I will be at the MIT this weekend in Memphis. Memorial Day seems to be a huge weekend for tournaments.

This weekend is the first of two weekends of state cup games here in WI. I've got 10 assignments already. Should be a fun and busy week.

10 State Cup Assignments in one weekend? Assuming 5 CR and 5 AR assignments that is ~40 miles of running in 2 days. Do the powers that be in WI think that the games are getting an adequate level of physical effort for the 4th and 5th game each day?

I think he means he has ten assignments over the two weekends.

10 over the two weekends. Four on the first Saturday, one at each position (AR1, AR2, Center, and 4th) and the same on Sunday. I have an hour and a half break in the middle of the games so never more than 3 games in a row. Then I have 2 AR's on the following weekend (semi's and finals).

Intechpc, the your schedule sounds more reasonable than what I had envisioned. I have frequently seen Assignors offer and Referees accept 10 or more on field assignments in a 2 day weekend. I have yet to see a referee do a good job on the 4th or 5th game in a day.

Had the middle on banging DII AA semi. All finals had my district teams playing, so I'm putting my feet up until tomorrow night's PDL match.
Our State Cup next weekend.
Dallas?

I'm sitting in the Tampa airport having tacos. I'm awaiting my flight home after the Sarasota Dev. Academy showcase.
There were 15 national assessors here and about 6-8 inspectors. All U-18 games were fully assessed. U-16 games were often mentored by one of the 4 full-time referees.
There were two instructional meetings run by Tambo, Hall, and Silva.
If you have all your basic sh*t together, have a desire to learn, be seen, and get better... this is the place to come.
For referee development, this is where it's at. Other tournaments are second rate by comparison (in regards to opportunity for advancement and education). The games are a bit more tame though in terms of discipline. But there were matches with red cards and they weren't just easy walks in the park. Also, the quality of play is 2nd to none when it comes to the level of play at these ages.
Consider it next year if you're thinking about advancement.

That is if you are accepted to do the tourney which requires (maybe not officially but realistically) Pro Clinic & recommendation(s) from state higher ups. There were many Grade 6 and above turned away...

There were grade 7's there too, so I don't know how they select referees, but I know there are opportunities for as low as grade 8 at the DA tournaments.

That's interesting..... most definitely then about who you know versus your credentials.
