Freddy was interviewed by Tony and Michael in the middle segment of Pardon The Interuption tonight - Great interview - Certainly an intelligent and well-spoken kid - Great publicity for Soccer, MLS and DC United - Doesn't seem fazed by all the publicity and pressure the media is bringing to this moment - Just wants to get out there and play soccer - And score the winning goal at the 90th minute

Anybody see this?

Missed it by about 30 seconds, but great too have him actually interviewed, instead of just spoken about, on PTI.

I saw that interview and Freddy completely took the wind out of Kornheiser's sails. He totally charmed him even after K tried to goad him on the "age thing". He kept his good humor and Magic Johnson smile. K was amazed at how mature he was talking to adults, stating his own kids hardly talk to him. Actually that is no surprise if you have ever heard Kornheiser screeming.

"Took the wind out?" To say the least. Freddy put Kornheiser in his place. It was classic.

People are charmed by Freddy. He is suck a loveable personality, media can't help but love him. There is not a shred of entitlement or cockiness in anything he does. He is a welcome relief from NBA/NFL/MLB stars. I love it and I can't wait to see the Freddy effect develop over the coming years.

Freddy took Kornheiser and put him in his place which very few people have ever been able to do. I think TK was intrigued by him. Other than Wilbon saying "The MLS" almost immediately, it was a great interview that went well beyond the normal 5 minutes.

BTW, what was up with TK's hair in the first segment?

It was for an "April Fools Day" thing.

Tony Kornheiser's Washington on WTEM 980 at about 525pm explained this. He was gushing over Freddy in that segment as well. Said he was a great interview, no matter how old he is :). Compared to another youngster that Tony interviewed (Andy Roddick) Freddy blew him away! Didn't Roddick take SportsTalk 101 at Botteleri's Academy as well? They (Andy, Steve and Chris Knoche) discussed Freddy, the "sellout" and their effects on the town at 530 and 6pm. They took calls at 620 but I missed that segment.

Thx,

Jay!

Best Freddy segment I've seen. I hope they bring him back on after he plays a game or a season or something.

That was a fun feature. And Freddy is a very, very well-spoken young man.

My wife made the observation that he's probably spent a good deal of time in his 14 years around many adults, and thus serves as a reason, as per an influence, as to why he's so well-spoken. And therefore, great in interviews.

Also, loved the way he put Tony K. in his place over his golf game. :)

I turned to my wife and said, "Tony just got schooled by a 14-year-old. But who knows, many defenders in MLS may wind up feeling like that, too."

missed the PTI, but almost wrecked on my way to work this morning, because Freddy was on National Public Radio!. I about crapped my pants. It was all bad things about "this happened in Israel, and this happened in Iraq" Just some really awful stuff, and then i think it was Bob Edwards with "The MLS begins it season on Saturday"... it was all about Adu. His influence is freaky, without being proven yet he has already got MLS significant time on 60 minutes and NPR.

Can somebody give a transcript type review of the schooling of Kornholio?

Tony has always had a type of sceptical respect for Freddy, and Wilbon has always been a fan. Freddy's poise and articulate dialogue made Tony fall in love with him. The comparison with his own children was sincere in how he found common ground with Freddy. Throughout the rest of the show after the Good 5 Mins, Tony kept referencing how impressed he was by Freddy, and near the end of the final segment(IIRC), with conviction he repeated twice, "I LOVE Freddy Adu".

If Freddy can enchant even the crankiest sceptic like Tony, then move over Keannu, 'cause Freddy truly is "The One".;)

I think TK has ALWAYS been a big fan, the age thing is a total sarcastic joke. He brings it up in jest..

Kind of like when they really agree on a topic, but for the sake of the show dig up miniscule differences argue about.

What I meant to get across was that by the end of the show Tony was absolutely fawning over Freddy. Why that is so significant is becuase such behavior out of Tony directed toward any one person is a seldom seen occurrence on air.
