View Full Version : The MARCH.

We've talked about it before, so lets talk about it again.
Marching in en masse is a difficult task, but I think there are enough people who want to see it happen that we should give it another try. I think the only way it's going to work is if we amass in the concourse at the portal where the drum circle happens.
At a time before the teams come out we should start the chants and drums and begin the sloooow walk down the aisle to 135/134. I would love it if La Norte could be part of this march and continue to walk around to 120 once they've dropped the rest of us off.
If we can consistently get this kind of thing done, perhaps we can get more sophisticated later.
Anyone who would participate should post their thoughts here.
p.s. People who sit elsewhere in the stadium are welcome to add to the noise.

An excellent idea. Hopefully this will be made easier by the opening of Gate B, behind the supporters club ticket booths, which should facilitate easier entry into the stadium for the folks who will be marching.
Now we just have to pick the perfect time - not too early, or the Barra will still be out in the parking lot. ;) (One of my favorite chants is the "where is the Barra?" chant we pulled out right before kickoff a couple of times last year when the tailgate was a bit too good!)

Yeah, getting the Barra moving at the end of a nice tailgate is akin to herding cats into a rowboat.

I think it was Red&Black that said rounding up the Barra is like hearding cats, though I'll do my best to help it happen. I'll pass the word that we need to be amassed at the drum circle site by 3:45. One thing that will help us out HUGE is the fact that we were able to get Gate B open. Before Barra member would have to get their tickets at our booth and then walk all the way down to Gate A and walk BACK to Gate B. Now we can just go right in. Stop by our tailgate Eric and help spread the word.

The fact that the keg will likely kick well before 3:30 should also help. :D

and, IMO, you can't not "do the walk" - as a fan, we all look forward to the noise of the drums and the cheers.

Come here, Landon Donovan! There's a new joke going around - have you heard it? What did the five fingers say to the Smurf? SLAP!
What's he gonna do? I'm Rick James, he's Landon Donovan.
Isn't Preki a little old to be takin' yoga? Probably in there with all the little kids.
And finally:
Hold my drink, bitch.

If we finish one keg before the game, we'll be jumping up and down in section 135. If we finish 'em both probably face down in the Anacostia.

For what it's worth, the Screaming Eagles will have two kegs of tasty Foggy Bottom on Saturday for our members' drinking pleasure.

I'm pretty sure the second keg is meant for post-game celebration.
Oh, one last thing -- make sure to keep the drummers well-oiled!

Good lord - four kegs for the supporters? Of course, by the end of last season, two were kicking so fast I barely got one beer from each.

After the SE annual meeting, we were talking to Kevin Payne, and he said one of the things he loved about the old days is when the Barra would come in all together, drumming. That's one of the reasons they opened up Gate B, to give everyone room to gather.

Wish I could be there. Make lots of noise.

Excellent!
I really think we can make this work.
The SE ticket mistress would appreciate if folks would gather at the drum circle area inside AND not near the ticket booth (she cannot hear). Also with the lines of people picking up tickets at the supporters club booths it will be less of a clusterfck if we meet up inside.
So 3:45? I can do that.

3:45 is good - not too early, not too late.
