Banners and flags ?!???

hello all, i have been a serious, SERIOUS fan of D.C. United since their first home game (against the Galaxy) in 96. I have also been an avid reader of bigsoccer since but this is my first thread/post.

The one thing i remember that made RFK soo special and colorful in the early years was all the BANNERS AND FLAGS, besides the ones of the barras, that people brought and displayed on the rails along the first row of the stadium. It really gave it a crazy Central/South AMerican feel to it. Also, it looks cool if you're watchin it on tv.

I know its kinda late for the first game, but for this season, we should all make an effort to make some banners (just take some old bedsheets) and help bring life to the stadium atmosphere. I don't graduate college till May so thats when i'll finally be able to make it to a game but you can be assured i'll bring some bedsheets with me (clean ones) with D.C. United Love spread all over them..hehe

At the SE annual meeting, someone (either Zack or KP) from DCU mentioned that they were hopeful of getting the Stadium Authority's permission to allow flagpoles...anyone heard anything more on this?

damn, if they allowed flagpoles, then the atmosphere would be awesome. i know its purely asthetic, but the flags come across so well on tv and from a distance in the stadium.

I thought the DCU e-newsletter said we are having a banner/poster contest every game. That's great.

And since I can't be at the game Saturday :( please someone make a banner that says "Landon: Boys don't cry"
