It's been a very creative year for several new competitions. I thought it might be nice to have each tournament director post his/her tournament premise, basic rules, and this year's winner and runner up all in one thread.

I, for one, really appreciate all the time and effort players spend creating and running our various Rocks competitions.

Blech's Eliminator Cup

All Rocks teams compete together. The team with the lowest score each week is eliminated. You don't have to be the best; just be consistent in not being the worst (for 31 gameweeks in a row).

2008-09 BE-Cup Winner = Duck Butter Bandits
Runner-Up = ChrisSuttonSlippers

Double Eliminator Cup

League Cups -- Similar to Blech's Eliminator Cup in concept, except teams compete only against teams in their own league. Teams get a second chance, as the first low score results in a "strike" and they remain in the competition, but a second low score against the remaining teams in your league results in elimination.

2008-09 DE-Cup Winner (SR) -- In off the post
Runner Up ---- Aviators

2008-09 DE-Cup Winner (VSR) -- blechs_dawgs
Runner Up ----- Pork Soda

2008-09 DE-Cup Winner (Sand) -- Cold Dog Soup
Runner Up ------ Zola School

2008-09 DE-Cup Winner (Dust) -- Southside Saturns
Runner Up ------ Sasha Juniors

Champions DE-Cup -- The four league DE-Cup winners advance to a Champions' Round, that uses the same format.

2008-09 Champions DE-Cup Winner -- blechs_dawgs
Runner Up -- Cold Dog Soup

There is something quirky about the elimination cup....dare I say "peculiar" that I find myself paying close attention to. I think the steady as she goes format counterpoints the big score tournaments quite nicely.

To Blech and his time spent for our benefit and DBB for such a solid season! (raise of the pint:))

The TESCO Cup (naming rights courtesy of kopiteinkc*)

I tried to design this cup as a throwback to the old style European Cup. Straight knockout with 32 teams playing home and away with away goals counting double in the event of a tie.

By way of a spin when playing as the 'home' team goals scored for cup competition purposes came from goals and assists from your fantasy team for that gameweek.

When playing as the 'away' team goals scored for cup competition purposes came from clean sheets earned by your fantasy team for that gameweek.

This was the first season for the TESCO cup and while I enjoyed it I also felt that there was a slight imbalance in goal scoring when playing away from home. Any thoughts on how to make it better and more enjoyable are most welcome.

1st Winner - LSG Royston Vasey

Runner Up - Rat Face Villains FC

Bump.

I also request that once this gets completed, that it becomes a sticky that can be referred to next season and that newcomers can view to see what types of inter and intra league cup competitions we hold.

Michel may be too shy to post his cups, so I'll cut and paste from his cup organizing thread for this season.

The creator of these two cups is Michel, aka 1800-WorldCup.com. He manages the Fantasy Olympics Champion and the Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup as described below.

The Fantasy Olympics League will be used to collect scores for our internal competitions. Nice to see all 32 teams signed up already. Good work league admins!

Fantasy Olympic Champion
Each week the highest scorer in the drafted leagues will be awarded a gold medal, silver to the second and bronze to the third.

If there's a tie for first, 2 golds will be awarded and a bronze for the third - no silver.

If there's a tie for second, two silvers will be awarded and no bronze.

If there's a tie for third, both teams will get a bronze.

The Olympic champion will be the team with the most gold medals at the end of the season, followed by the most silver then most bronze.

A team may have more medals at the end of the season and not win, as it's the team with the most gold medals that counts.

Visit this web site for the fantasy olympics table updated only through GW27. Do we have the latest table anywhere?

Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup

The three 12-Week Cups (Autumn, Winter and Spring versions) replace the former Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup format; although the trademarked name will remain.
All drafted teams entered into the Olympic Championship League are eligible to play.

Gameweeks 1 and 2 will be used to get the Olympic Championship League table rolling and allow managers to make post draft adjustments to snap up players still in the pool who turn out to be the hottest thing around since Berbatov's hairband.

12-Week Autumn Cup
Table positions will be recorded after Gameweek 2 and the competition will run from Gameweek 3 to Gameweek 14.

2008/9 Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup's Autum Cup Champion - Raytown Rangers (4 Pts); Runner-Up -ThisIsAnfield FC (3 Pts); Third Place - Bettermirror MCFD (2 Pts)

12-Week Winter Cup
Table positions will be recorded after Gameweek 14 and the competition
will run from Gameweek 15 to Gameweek 26.

2008/9 Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup's Winter Cup Champion - LSG Royston Vasey (5 Pts); Runner-Up ThisIsAnfieldFC (4 Pts); Third Place - Old Peculiar (3 Pts)

12-Week Spring Cup
Table positions will be recorded after Gameweek 26 and the competition
will run from Gameweek 27 to Gameweek 38.

2008/9 Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup's Spring Cup Champion - Winner of Vegas Virgins vs Duck Butter Bandits (10 Pts for Champion, 6 Pts. for Runner-Up); Third Place - Winner of Sasha Juniors vs Old Peculiar (4 Pts for Third Place)

Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup Table for Autumn and Winter Cups:

7 ThisIsAnfield FC
5 LSG Royston Vasey
4 Raytown Rangers
3 Old Peculiar
2 Bettemirror MCFD

Whoever wins between Vegas Virgins and Duck Butter Bandits for the Spring Cup will also be the overall Champion. Whoever loses will be Runner-Up for the Spring Championship and could finish no higher than 3rd place for the season.

If Old Peculiar wins the Spring Cup Third Place match, he will move into a tie for 2nd place for the season with ThisIsAnfield FC. If Old Peculiar loses to Sasha Juniors, ThisIsAnfield FC will finish as sole Runner-Up for the season and the loser of the Vegas Virgins vs Duck Butter Bandits match would finish in 3rd Place for the season.

We used to have League Cups and Fantasy Cups for each league. Mark, aka Kopiteinkc used to run some of these.

Last year there was a Sheep Blatters Cup in the Sand Division, did it revert to just the Sand table this year?

Are there any other cups that should be mentioned?

FPL ran some Cup Competitions as well. Of course, the drafted leagues are somewhat at a disadvantage over drafted teams who can have several of the big 5 players.

In FPL's The Fantasy Cup, our Last Rock's Team standing was In Off The Post who made it to the 6th round. Cold Dog Soup bowed out in the 5th round and Aviators bowed out in the 4th round.

I'm 1st place in the random generated league we all get assigned to on the FPL site.

One game to go and I think I'm almost guaranteed top spot.

LSG and Duckbutter can now throw virtual rotten fruit your way :p

I have to step in for the boys on Old Peculiar to suggest that they are in the running to win this since they bumped off Vegas Virgins in week 37 to set up a final with Duck Butter Bandits. We were written out as having no chance to win 3 weeks ago but found new life when a mathematical error was corrected. I believe we still live again to win the whole thing out right.

We used to have League Cups and Fantasy Cups for each league. Mark, aka Kopiteinkc used to run some of these.

I wish I could keep doing these, but for about the last three seasons the fantasy site has been blocked for me at work, hence their demise.

I could do them at home, but there's no fun in that ... :D

Not to take away from Paul's great season, see the previous thread for this year's Fantasy Olympic Champion which was won by Vegas Virgins.

Instead of to the Olympics, the reference in Tarvinodos' post above regarding Old Peculiar's Cup victory should be to the Spring season of the Rock Hard Challenge Cup, which in turn also makes Old Peculiar the overall winner of the Rock Hard Championship. Having already secured promotion and even a last day come-from-behind league title, there is no "twist" to be had this year.....
