Hey D.C. fans,
let's get a good song going for freddy. it could be for when he enters the game or scores a goal. i was thinking along the lines of the old beach boys song: "Help me Rhonda." Except it could go like this:
"help me, freddy.
help, help me freddy.
help me, freddy.
help, help me freddy.
help me, freddy.
help, help me freddy.
help me freddy, yeah,
get him out of my heart."
Go United!

Or how about:
I saw him on a Sunday and my heart stood still
Adu run run run
Adu run run
;)

Too bad we play on Saturday :D
I prefer the simple:
Adu, boma ye!
Adu, boma ye!
Says it all!

Begbie from Barra Brava had a funny one that could work.
Adu's Song (to theme of Elmo's World)
La la la la Adu's song,
La la la la Adu's song
Adu loves his left foot, his right foot too
Thaaat's Adu's song!
or
La la la la Adu's World,
La la la la Adu's World
Adu loves his left foot, his crayons too
That's Adu's World....
Maybe he's just spending alot of time with his kid.

Simple one:
We love you Freddy, Adu
We love you Freddy, Adu
We love you Freddy, Adu
Oh! Freddy we love you
or with the "proper" versing:
We love you Freddy, Adu
We love you Freddy, Adu
You make Landon look so blue
Oh! Freddy we love you

On another thread, "dabes2" suggested a song to the tune of the Beatles' 'Drive My Car,' (which is pretty funny, seeing as he's not old enough to drive yet...):
Freddy you can drive my car
Yes, you're gonna be a star
and Freddy we love you
Beep, beep, beep, beep, yeah.
Also, how about this simple one, to the tune of the 'Addams Family Theme?' (I know they pipe this tune in over PAs at other sporting events, so it's a bit generic; but if it was sung substituting the word 'Adu,' it could work):
Adu-Adu (clap, clap)
Adu-Adu (clap, clap)
Adu-Adu, Adu-Adu, Adu-Adu (clap, clap)

Let's hear if for The Boy!
Let's give The Boy a hand
Let's hear it for our baby
He's gonna be The Man
Maybe he's no Diablo
But he's our runnin' one-man show
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Let's hear it for The Boy!
OK, sorry about that. It's just that after the game in Charleston last Saturday night, and after a lengthy stay in the very impressive Three Lions Pub, our gang headed back to the predictably cheesy High Spirits Lounge high atop the not-so-impressive Holiday Inn Riverview for a nightcap. The musical selections matched the decor and this little ditty insinuated itself into our subconsciousnesseseses. (No one could pry the offending artist's name out of said subconsciousness and it took 1:30 am phone calls to Houston and Minneapolis to finally determine that it was the timeless Denise Williams.)

The First Nowell:
"A-duuu, Adu, Aaa-duuu, Aduuuuu.
Born is the kiiing of R-F-K!"
I second "boma ye," since we can't do it with Abby Wambach any more -- at least until KABC on Sunday!

I posted this on the "clean cheer" song thread, but I'll post again, because as it is my post, I am partial to it:
I was watching a French league match today (PSG v someone) and I heard them singing a cheer to Amazing Grace. It sounded awesome. So that got me thinking:
Fred-dy Adu
go score some goals
We love Freddy ADU!
DC was lost, but now were found
We love Freddy Adu!

Wow. Holy Crap. I gotta give you an A for effort, but fortunately even you realized that this one wasn't gonna fly BEFORE you launched it...
If I ever caught myself singing this at RFK (or anywhere), I would have to graciously accept a severe beating from any and all bystanders (good friends and family included). :D

I have no idea what it says. I sang completely different words to this when they did it for Ali Curtis, since I couldn't possibly have understood "boma ye" as actual words. I'll assume this might be some sort of spanish? Regardless of the stereotype that only latinos go to soccer games, I'd guess only about 10% of the people there Saturday will have a clue what you're saying ... put me in the 90%.

When Muhammad Ali ran along the dusty roads of impoverished Zaire to prepare for his 1974 fight with George Foreman he was recognized everywhere he went. Children and their elders greeted him with the chant "Ali boma ye," less mellifluously translated as "Ali kill him."

Its what people chanted at Muhammad Ali whne he fought in Zaire. IIRC, it roughly translates to "Ali, kill him", or something like that.
