Other than defender David Stokes, no player on D.C. United's roster is happier to see former coach Ray Hudson gone than midfielder Brian Carroll ... "Last year was a learning experience that I didn't really want to go through, but since I did I'm a stronger for it, and now it just makes me appreciate what I've been able to accomplish so far this year," Carroll said. "It's even more of a relief to just know that I've at least played in the preseason and have confidence and experience going into the MLS season that I didn't have last year."

Hopefully the preseason optimism will turn into results on the field.

I'm happy for all the coverage and it was nice to read that he'll likely be starting and that Dema will have a more attacking role this year. So I don't want to sound like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth and all, but this is just plain embarassing:

Now coach Peter Nowak has called him United's best player during the club's three-game preseason Carolina Challenge Cup and probably will start Carroll as a defensive midfielder in Saturday's season opener against the MSL defending champion San Jose Earthquakes at RFK Stadium.

MSL? Sheesh, this is year nine of the frikkin' league and the Times can't even get it right. I guess they're too busy covering the NLF, the NAB and on their front pages, the NAR and the GPO!

We're getting more articles than we could imagine. Even articles on unheard of players. And you're complaining about a typo?
