Let's face it. Of the "Diminutive Three", RUN DMB comes to play every US Nats Match. I would argue if you could choose which US Nats Arena feels HE can trust most going into WC Qualification, he just might rank in this order (not including US NATS goalkeepers):

1) RUN DMB- He is honestly the only player I can say where his game has evolved into a better Internataional/Nats Player SINCE the WC 2002-hands down. Yet, I still sense he is not getting his just due credit with regards to Donovan, Convey, and now it appears Casey from this latest friendly. He is clearly the MAN OF THE MATCH for the past four friendlies as the best US field player on the pitch - when it matters most - when no amount of media hype can carry you. Beaz brings it every important match, friendly or not...the better the opponent, the more he rises to the occasion.

2) Reyna-although injury prone and doesn't play in too many domestic friendlies.

3) McBride- Always there when called upon since WC '02. Executes his assisgnments, although Denmark and Holland he made little impact. Although his time at Fulham is exposing his weaknesses along with slowing with age.

4) Gibb - Steadily overtaking Pope (injury-prone) as the best defender/man-maker the US has going into qualifying.

5) Convey- Slowly overtaking Donovan for making CONSISTENT, RELIABLE impact and presence EVERYTIME he suits up for the US NATS since WC 2002.Though his impact nor focus has not been the same when he suits up for DC United.

Yeah Casey, Boca, Wolff, Mulrooney experiments are noteworthy- BUT NOT YET RELIABLE. Although, I was

Those Five are Reliable and consistently making impact and scoring opportunities for themselves and/or others.

I thought he did a pretty good job of dribbling directly into four Poles and beating a few of them before getting flattened and dispossessed.

He did have the goal but his passing weak and his shot was lucky to make the 5-hole.

All that said, I love Beasley. He did a lot of things right today. I just don't think he deserved man of the match today.

Agreed. I like that DMB gives 100% and his toughness has improved a lot since he got tossed around like a rag doll in his international debut at T&T.

Here's another pro-DMB stat that I was thinking about earlier today. Rob Stone said that today's goal was just DMB's fifth for the Nats. I thought that seemed low, but then I realized that it just seems like that because (with one exception) his goals have all been important and/or come against challenging international competition (ie no trash-time goals or hat-tricks agaisnt minnows):

--The late winner against SK in the 02 Gold Cup that gave us a win and some nice momentum that carried thru the final;
--The second goal against Uruguay in the run-up to WC02; this was a gutsy goal that put us 2 up versus a tough opponent, and turned out to be the game winner;
--The go-ahead goal v. Turkey in the 03 Confeds Cup; really our only good moment of that tournament and certainly the only point where i had hopes for us to progress;
--Today's game winner against Poland;
--The fifth of five goals agaisnt Jamaica in the runup to WC02 (ok, the kid is allowed one meaningless goal).

DMB is no great finisher, but he can get the goals when it counts--just another way to illustrate that this kid is bigtime.

DMB showed some toughness today - I thought he was out after watching the replay of the Polish player overtheback & landing on the back combo on Beasley. The guy just keeps getting better and better. Got to believe his time is this year for a move over the Atlantic...he has earned it. Now just put on some 15 pounds of muscle DeMarcus

...Whatever... You may trust in Jesus (Adam & Eve, begot & begot)... but I trust in Science (Supersize & untraceable steroids)...

I like it.

I think that DMB earned the MotM today as much as anyone. Casey looked good for most of the game, but made a bunch of lazy mistakes at the end of the first half. The difference between the two was that when Casey had the ball, he'd run up the sides and look around for someone to cross to (which rarely happened). When DMB got the ball, he'd tear ass up the field, sprinting, and looking to create chances + generally freaking out the Polish Defence ("this kid is the size of my thigh! WHY IS HE RUNNING RIGHT AT ME??)

They both did well (not great, just well). Let's stop complaining and have a beer.

If you've seen his parents on MLS broadcasts, you know that that isn't going to happen.
If you've seen his parents in person you would know this isn't going to happen.

Anyone have a card from BALCO?
