I have been reading a book about soccer in brasil. It says to use rubber balls to enhance touch? Are they referring to "four-quare" balls or something else?

No. They are referring to a grapefruit sized ball made of about 1/8th inch thick rubber. For some reason, these balls take a funny bounce. So if your touch is not true, then the ball squirts away in an unpredictable way. If the ball bounces, it is even harder to deal with. This greatly enhances touch, proper pace, and control. The company that makes the balls is Mercur in Brazil. Some soccer shops carry them, but for sure you can order them through brusa.net.

The book I am reading has only dealt with field play... still in the middle of it though. It is a brasilian soccer coaching book from reedswain publishing

By the way, what book are you reading? Is it "Futebol – The Brazilian Way of Life", by Alex Bellos?

Futsal is indoor soccer.
unlike North American indoor, it's played on a basketball sized court with no boards, smaller goals etc...heavier balls

What is North American soccer like? And Theodore (nice name), how big are the balls? Are they size 5?
Thanks

if you mean North American indoor soccer.... in arena soccer (w/ astro turf) they play with a regular (or slightly weighted) PU ball (cue the Kendis balls from the NPSL).
some play with the same fabric used on tennis balls

they use those balls because they dont bounce like regular ones so they can play in the streets and wherever without breaking too many windows. they usually play 5 a side to develop close control. its very different from here

To the F50 person. Yes the F50's do stretch in width big time. I'm flat foot but still bought the 50's and they are very comftorable for me.
