They didn't drop the ball on this. They have been showing the matches that Setanta didn't want for PPV. Setanta wants both Semi's. That was to be expected. It's not that big a deal. I hope someday, FSW will buy the US broadcast rights and let us have the whole tourney.

Yeah it sucks but its not that big a deal. If you have some friends who want to see it just split the cost and its only a few bucks a piece.

FSW has indeed been sublicensing matchups from Setanta, usually one live or "exclusive" delayed game plus 24-hour delayed rights to closed-circuit telecasts. Also, any replays televised in the UK not involving Man U. PPV games get delayed 72-hours as with any iNDemand soccer telecasts.

Naturally, the semis and final will be on PPV. FSW will have delayed rights.

FSW does have the rights starting next year. Of course, they will do PPV games at 10:00 Saturday and 11:00 Sunday as with EPL, plus PPV of one if not both semis and the final. Otherwise, FSW loses a ton of money (it only has about 20 million subscribers and sells only a few targeted ads). However, it does mean that there will likely not be many closed-circuit games- they'll be delayed to run after PPV games or just later on in the day.

It's called demand, which generates profits.

Of course, you could wait and watch FSW on Sunday afternoon. You just have to be patient and not look at the sports pages.

Is this true? Can I only hope that since Ruppert now owns the whole premiership package that we will get NFL Sunday ticket like coverage here in the states. I want to be able to pick my games danm it.

I usually split the $19.99 fee with two of my boys. Or if it's a great Semi like Man Utd - Arsenal we'll head to the ******** N Bull Pub and pay $20 its always a good time either way.

Do you have to pay just to watch it in a pub? Thats a bit harsh.

Become a fan of MLS and this isn't a problem.

What IS the best Premiership coverage in the States?

I've got DirecTV, and plan on getting the Euro 2004 tournament ($179 for every game, including the final). But the only Premiership package offered by DirecTV is $269 for the season, but you only get two random games each weekend. That's more expensive than something like Sunday Ticket, which gives access to ALL live games played on a weekend (except ESPN's primetime broadcasts, I believe). Granted, there's more games over a season, but you have no choice as to which games you get to see.

Does anyone know of a way to get more Premiership game variety here in the States? I know Fox Sports Net rebroadcasts some Premiership games, but again, you're not getting comprehensive coverage there.

Why can't the US be more like the UK? PUT SOCCER ON TV in BARS, DAMNIT!

I live in Philly. Does anyone know a good place to watch the FA Cup final other than Dark Horse or Fado? :)

Look up British ex-pat pubs. If they don't have football on, I'd be very surprised!

In terms of pubs in Philly, try:

Dickens Inn, 421 S. 2nd St., 215-928-9307
