mlsnet.com has All-Star voting up for the squad that will face Everton. Who would your XI be? Here's mine:
Keller
Marshall-Olave-Franklin
Clark-GBS-Nagamura-DeRo-Ljungberg
LandyCakes-McBride
Crew Chuck35
14 May 2009, 11:52 AM
Keller
Marshall Hejduk Wynne
GBS Ljunberg Rodgers Klejstan Mastroeni
Donovan McBride
I went for the lineup that has the best chance of beating Everton, not the one of the best performers of the first half of the season.

The Commisioners pick this year is...
Freddy Adu.
Congrats, your votes are worthless.

Some years I vote 100% Crew.
But yesterday I voted for:
Keller
Hejduk-Marshall-Padula
Kljestan-Schelotto-Rogers-Carroll-Zakuani
McBride-Moreno (Ale)

Conde-Conrad-Wynne
Blanco-DeRo-Joseph-Ljungberg-Kljestan
McBride-Donovan
You see what I did there?
Between MLS, Champ League and Open Cup, plus Gold Cup, Confed Cup & WCQ's, I feel comfortable with being able to see Crew players more than enough this season. I won't add to their fixture congestion.

I would vote completely non-Crew and give the guys a week off and save them the humiliation of being paraded around like morons in a useless, embarassing, shi+-for-brains competition like the MLS All Stars match.

For the players its not humiliating. They get decent bonuses for being selected.

You could probably throw in some Toronto players, but that's basically what it's gonna be.

They also get the bonus for being named to part of the "2nd team", which isn't actually there - but the CBA calls for 2 All-Star teams, so there's an entire 2nd team named that gets a bonus and gets to stay home.
I support stuffing the 2nd team ballot box for the Crew.

Give them the bonuses AND the time off?
There is NOTHING wrong with that idea.

Its obviously great if they get bonuses but I prefer the previous East vs. West format with an emphasis on it being a kind of a party for supporters than an over hyped friendly against a Premiership club.

Not it won't, because the fan vote is only 25% of the total vote. Coaches, media, and players also vote. I think that is correct, but I know it is not fan only.

So a "Vote for the Worst" campaign won't work, like it does in American Idol?

I think we saw this last year when the "fans" picked 4 or 5 Toronto players...and only one made the team.
Of course, iirc, on 8% of the players picked GBS, so there's no reason to scold the fans for their voting when the players obviously aren't much better.

A: You're sad about that?
B: What are you doing in here? Did you get lost?
