View Full Version : Advice for new hattrick players

Got a question on youth pulls
Is it best to wait until my training is rated excellent before I make some pulls or start picking players from week one. I've read conflicting accounts so I'm totally confused on this. You certainly don't need to wait until it's excellent -- my youth squad paid for itself when it was still only passable. However, it might be reasonable to wait until it's inadequate or passable to start pulling; you always have a chance at getting a good player, but with a low-rated youth squad, that chance might not be high enough for the cost to be worth it.

Most 'expereinced' teams do not desire to train stamina due to the likely decrease in form. That's why you'll rarely see team in Division IV and above never buy a midfielder with anything less than inadequate stamina.
I think therefore that new hattrick players can make some nice money training stamina early. You can fill a void in the market and provide other teams with a market of IMs with good stamina. New hattrick teams usually lack stamina anyway, so after buying your coach, arena upgrades, etc... consider buying IMs with at least passable PM who need stamina training. If you have no money, file this in the back of your head for later. Odds are you'll be training stamina later in the season anyway to get your midfield up to par.
Remember to research the market and buy these guys cheaply. Then keep track of what you paid for your stamina trainees and make sure that you list them with an appropriate minimum bid so that you will get a profit.

Excellent advice gunner. That is what I'm going to be doing as well. Hire numerous trainees and train stamina. With a little bit of research, I discovered it is a lot more profitable to buy passable PMs and train up stamina than it is to buy up inadequates. A difference of nearly 20-25K or more.

Aren't new youth pulls locked until Monday (HT time)?

Good question. I just took this from last season's info and changed the dates. I remember it being fairly accurate, in that I could pull my YP on Sunday which if it is late enough is HT monday. We could both be right or maybe I didn't get the dates right in the translation.

Got to thinking that maybe the scouting article Mark (Kopite) and I worked on would be handy to have a link to in this thread.

Regarding the scouting article, I forget who it was that suggested it, but it wasn't me that said to try to match up specialties.

Shoot. Sorry about that Craig. It was actually Chris_Caron. I'll have to change that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Stamina is generally one level per week of training regardless of coach’s skill. Occasionally it doesn’t go up a level but sometimes you’ll see it go up two levels in one week.
Scoring takes 7 weeks with a solid coach, 10 assistants and 100% training intensity and a 17 year old trainee. Each level of coach below solid adds a week to the training time. There is debate about the exact amount of time each year above 17 adds to the total. Some say a week (I don’t think so) and some say it adds 10%.
PM=7 weeks
Defense=8 weeks
Keeper and winger are both 5 weeks.

wow longer than i thought thanks for the help, but with a coach with inadequate training would hiring 10 assistant coaches help much with anything?

The numbers I gave are based on 10 assistant coachs. You won't achieve the training time without them. And remember not to exceed 10 total assistant coachs/GK coaches.

It's also not exactly an extra week for a better coach. My 20-yo trainees popped in six weeks with a passable coach and they pop in six weeks with a solid coach. The difference for the solid coach seems to be that they will occasionally pop in five weeks (e.g. my 20-yo keeper popped a week early last week).
The benchmark for field training is 8 assistants and 2 keeper coaches (or sometimes 9/1). Keeper training seems more variable, some say the keeper coaches don't really affect training so you should go with more field assistants, others just flip the field training standard and go with 8 keeper coaches and two assistants.
Generally, a new team does not have the cash flow to support a full slate of assistants. It's better to start out with fewer (say, use five instead of ten and halve the numbers you would have used e.g. 4/1 instead of 8/2) and then hire more when your income can support it.

training general helps form, but like has been said many times in this thread I believe, is training general is something that you should rarely if ever do.

In the last couple of weeks I have brought in some (quite talented for a new team) 17 year old SOBs into my lockerroom and my team spirit has dropped to furious. (I'm also training stamina at 100% so I'm sure that doesn't help.. and my team stinks of course)
This obviously isn't a good thing but do I have a revolt on my hands? :)
I would assume this resets at seasons end but if this is something I should take advantage of immediatelly?
Thanks guys!

Any time you buy a player, that player has a chance to lower TS. If he has negative agreeability, there is a greater chance. Conversely, if you sell a player it also has a chance to lower TS but the positive agreeability has a greater chance of causing TS drop. Firing a player never affects (I don't think) and yes TS will reset at the end of the season. You can check the off season dates post earlier in this thread for when exactly that is.

About moving my stadium, do I lose any capacity from moving it? I know that all regions are the same, but I'm in LA and I really do not like California so much that I am willing to fictionaly move out. I know that I lose 3% of my supporters, but because I'm so new to the game, I'm willing to do it. The only thing that I am scared of is loss of capacity in order to make up for that quickly. Thanks

You shouldn't lose capacity, but I am not positive, but the devs don't really like people moving for no reason, they like you to stay in the region that you live in.

Your stadium will be unaffected, but you will lose 3% of your supporters for doing so. If you are a new team, now is the time to do it.
