Hmm. Point.
One more question, is there a good way to counter someone playing counter-attack?

I need to start buying players for all positions that can average at least 3-1/2 - 4 stars a game. What sort of cash will I be looking at spending for such players? In general, anywhere from 500k to a million (and up), depending on whether you go for an older guy with experience or a younger guy who can play for you for a while.

If someone is counter attacking you it usually means you have the better team, so just stick with your best line-up. If you know for certain they will CA you it also means you can Play It Cool as you will win the midfield possession regardless and that will help your TS for the next match.

This has probably been answered before but i cant really be bothered to look through the whole thread for it - what is the best time to transfer list players? I'm selling a trainee for the first time and i obviously want to get as much as possible for him.

Conventional wisdom says to list him so his ending time is between 1800 and 2200 HT time. That is when the highest concentration of users is on.

Gents, just got my first team and I'm going through the newbie suggestions that you have put up (get new training coach, fire the incredibly bad dead wood, etc)
I'm giving my team orders and trying to figure out who goes where.
Quick question:
Where / how on the page do you change formations? ie from 4-4-2, to 5-3-2 for example. Is it a smart idea to switch it and take the confusion hit? How do you train a certain formation or is it all just experiential?

You change formations by switching your players' positioning. For example, switching a defender from "normal" to "extra inner midfielder" or "extra forward." So if you move one defender to becom an extra inner midfielder you have just made your 3-5-2.
Is it a smart idea to switch it and take the confusion hit?
Once you've figured out what you want to train, yes.
How do you train a certain formation or is it all just experiential?
Yes, it's all experiential. Just play it and your team's ratings for that formation will go up.

Dont forget to register your team in the HT club registry as well.

Team is registered
Quick question. At this point, I have 17 players. How many can I have on the team? What is optimal for training purposes? Since I only have 11, I take it that challenging someone to a Wednesday match is not a good idea at this point (I take it that it will affect the players adversely for the main game)

You can’t have more than 50 players. Optimum depends on what you are training. And once you have started your training regime, always play friendly games.

Cool. and last but not least. what exactly does the TSI number represent? Why are high TSI players worth so much more than low TSI players even they they mahe similar characteristics?

There are varying levels within each denomination. For example any level between 7.0-7.9 =solid (numbers are examples). These numbers = TSI. Higher TSI means the player is closer to going up a denomination

So basically, the higher the TSI, the closer he is to popping a level up. Other than that, his TSI level does not affect the skills he already has. i.e. good skills + low TSI = OK player, but its going to take him a while to go up a level, and if he is older, he'll probably never go up one.
Os is TSI the representation of how many points each player goes up every week due to training. Basically what I'm asking is, is TSI a static number for a player. What is the diference between two identical 17 year olds, one has a TSI of 1500, the other 300.

Kit question. When can one actually use the reserve kit? Or is it there just as fluff?

Can a player play in both a friendly during the middle of the week AND the weekend game?

TSI is the total skill index. It's based on the skills that the player has. The higher the skills, the higher the TSI. Some skills have a larger impact on TSI - Goalkeeping especially. An inadequate GK will have a TSI over 1000 while a player whose best skill is inadequate passing will have a very low TSI. As you train your players, their TSI will increase as the skills improve.
I would guess that your "indentical 17 year olds" are a long way from being identical.

Somebody else may be able to tell you for sure, but I think the reserve kit gets used if you're the visiting team and your match kit is too similar to the home team's kit. Not sure how it determines what constitutes similar kits, but I have had matches where my reserve kit was used.
