Well therein lies the rub ...
I'm not at all confident that my fortnights will be in the black for next season.
Is it usual for a new team to break even? I wouldn't have thought so, but then what do I know?
For the most part, no new teams do not break even. Too many costs to achieve stability in the beginning: new coach, trainees, stadium expansion.

But my point is, as long as the bleeding is not too bad, it will take a lot of two week periods before you go bankrupt.
As long as you aren't silly with the debt and have a longer term plan then losing 5k every two weeks isn't that big a deal.

It took me about a full season to be able to operate in the black. I dipped down to only having $1,226 left in the war chest. Right after that I had to slice and dice some operations of the team, but I was able to keep it afloat. A few lucky YP sales got my head above water, and a decent conservative growth plan has netted me only $16k of loss during weeks where I don't play a home game.
I've got upwards of $200,000 in the chest, which is currently being readied for purchase of older, more experienced players for my coming promotion to D5.
And on that note, how does experience work? I've got a player that I would LOVE to use as a coach, but his experiece is poor. He's been playing in almost every game, but I've never seen it bump. Is this a thing that only happens during the beginning of a season?

The higher a coaching candidate's experience the less money it takes to make him a coach.
Poor isn't enough.

No one really knows how long it takes to up a players exp, I have a player who has played most of my league games and quite a few friendlies over the last 4.5 seasons, and he this season popped to inad exp. I can't remember exactly, but I think it is usually about 1 exp pop a season depending on how much the player plays.

Poor isn't enough.I know. I'm hoping to use him at some point down the line, provided his experience gets higher than poor. :D

if you just try and log in twice a week, only an idiot would actually go bankrupt.

What would you say is enough?
Does it make sense to buy an old guy with passable/solid experience now so that I can turn him into a coach at the end of next season?
How important is the leadership and personality of a coach?

Once a coach is a coach, experience and personality do not matter. Leadership does, however. Coaches with high leadership will improve your team spirit which (in my experience) has a pretty noticable effect on your team's on-field performance (esp. midfield).

In the beginning of a owner's career, it isn't necessary to have that kind of player in the wings. It is a simple matter to purchase a solid/poor or passable/poor since during that time training is most important. Leadership comes later as you promote into the higher (and tougher) divisions.

nt to start recruiting a future coach, find a guy that you can play in league games and such, that also has solid leadership, that's one very smart thing that I didn't even realized that I did, I bought a solid leadership guy, who is now at inad exp. In another 4-7 seasons, he will be made the coach of my squad, by then he shoudl have somewhere around excellent or higher exp probably higher.

If you already have a clown or semi-clown for a team leader, you might also want to consider getting a passable leadership player instead so that you don't risk blocking your team leader (and you don't have to overpay for a clown).

Is there any method to searching for players with solid leadership? Or is it trial and error?

It's actually 79500. A quicker way may be to send HT mail to the guy who posts on the transfer thread or just go to his team and see if he has any for sale.

The Coach's training ability can't be any higher than his experience when converting a player. So to get a solid coach, he'd have to have at least solid experience. As already mentioned, the higher the experience, the cheaper it will be to make him a coach.
Hattrix Files (http://www.databased.at/hattrick) has a chart under "Price & Prizes" of estimated costs for converting a player to coach.
Solid experience to a solid coach: $681,800 - $794,100
Excellent experience to a solid coach: $597,300 - $675,000

The only one who has. All the others were jokes especially the one who had just changed training and was selling 15 players :)

Oh that was the funniest one ever I loved his post,
Due to a change in training 15 players are for sell, that was truely priceless.
I have noticed though, that a lot of those teams haven't come back around that much.

Yeah. I guess, the hard-nosed mods in this forum were too much for them. Or maybe it was because we never bought any of their players. I don't know. But if they are willing to register their club, I have no problem buying some of their players.
