I think the break point is around week 6 or so. I've kept all my spokies on staff this season to try to keep the bleeding of supporters to a minimum after the games where I get whacked, but around week 6 was where I'd start firing in the past.

How do you set playing style for matches? (play it cool, normal Most important)

I though I had done it for my last league match but hen I say that our style was normal and now I can't find the option.

Is it because you can't set it for friendies?

You can only set team attitude for competitive matches (league and cup).

i got 10 and theyre makin me 64 680 a week but it always changes

I think you have a few to many spokesmen, I only have 6, and I got 63,195 this week, a little over a thousand less then you, with 4 less spokespeople, the extra doesn't cover the price of those extra 4 spokespeople.

Ok, that explains it. Thanks.

With regard to youth squad investment ... I invested 20k my first week, but now I'm thinking that was a mistake.

It seems like this is a *really* long term investment that is high risk/high reward.

Since I'm expecting to get brutalized for the forseeable future in my series I'm not expecting much attendance income. And it seems to make sense to maximize my trainie investment and not keep a cash buffer for YS investments. Then start serious Youth Squad spending once I've gotten on more stable financial ground.

That said, the youth squad is 'neat' and I'm reluctant to opt out entirely. My 20k popped me to 'poor'. Does it make sense to invest 5K a week for a while? I feel like I can more or less afford that level ...

Sould I expect to make any progess at all at that level of funding?

you'll make very little progress at the 5K level, I would believe that most people would say that if you don't invest the max, at least try to invest 10K. At least that's what I've always heard. With 10K you can still improve your system just not to as high a level as with the max.

I believe, from the Playtpus guide, that you can still reach excellent (this is the max right?) by investing 10K. I think it just takes a lot longer.

However, if you've already begun investing 20K they advise you not to stop. It will apparently drop an entire level if you lower your investment.

I've read that too .. although I've only heard it mentioned in reference to reducing your investment once you've hit excellent (ie. at that level your facilities degrade so fast that you need 20,000 just to hold steady).

Anyway, the 20k is a sunk cost at this point and I can't afford 120K between now and next season so I just need to decide between 5, 10 and 20. I think it says in the HT rules (or somewhere) that 5k gives the most bang for your buck, but that progress is very slow nonetheless because you're just dripping it in ... so I think I'll try that and see where it takes me.

I definately plan on bumping it up once I start selling trainies.

Have people found that YS is a sound investment? From what I've read on the conferences people seem to eaither strike it mega rich or go for years without ever getting a decent pull.

Usually I go just over breaking even every season, I'll have some pulls that will sell for quite a bit, some that will sell for a little and some that won't sell at all. Usually I find that I am breaking even for the most part. What helps though, is that one sell that goes for like 600K that supports your YS for a nice while after that.

Hmmm...it is tempting to go whole hog. But my accountant won't let me. Later, later, later.

And now for something completely different:

When does your team spirit reset for the next season? After the last league game? Or during the break sometime? And does anything else reset at that time?

Since it is nearly the end of the season, I have updated the end of season dates page on the Dynamo website.

Thanks Helghallen.

So since my star playmaker has wretched stamina I'll still be training stamina for two weeks after the re-set to get him to excellent. Oh well.

edit: and now i realize that stamina hurts form, not TS anyway.

I had two YPs sell for over 600k this season.

LoL... where has all the money gone?

My advice on money to newbies is this:

Don't be afraid of a little debt. If you are at -200,000 but are still breaking even every two weeks it's the same as being +200,000 breaking even every two weeks. The only difference is if you are a n00b who is +200k you probably haven't spent much money to improve your squad.

I spent my first two seasons in debt. It wasn't a huge debt but operating in the red is something that CAN and I think SHOULD be done, especially early on. When you make purchases always keep in mind you have that 200K credit.

As long as your biweekly finances are close to breaking even being in debt doesn't really matter.

i dont think they are the greatest buys...over time they will be good...over a lot of time. plan to do a lot of stamina training. will these be your starters or back ups?

They aren't the best trainees, but get them up to solid PM and they will be worth a fortune. Solid passing is like gold.

Well therein lies the rub ...

I'm not at all confident that my fortnights will be in the black for next season.

Is it usual for a new team to break even? I wouldn't have thought so, but then what do I know?
