has the guy who runs DC Untied posted here lately?...we are playing our rd2 of the BS cup tonight...and I was looking for his league starting 11.

I see he only has 18 players, hope he at least uses all his reserves...

So I guess these are really just a way to make sure that you get your midweek friendly right? Not overly competitive, its just hard to get a game on a regular basis? At first I thought it was a competitive cup..

another question... why not play your starters, at least some of them, for the friendlies... wont they get training points and experience in friendlies?

The BS cup is for two things. Bragging rights and not having to hunt for a friendly each and every week. All participants are guaranteed 6 weeks of friendlies. Finding friendlies is not really too difficult, you'll find you get challenged alot, but sometimes you have to work at it.

As for your second question, many newer teams (myself included) can't field a full 2nd team. We play our 1st team in league games and our trainees + enough players to fill out the roster. Friendlies are, for me at least, a way to get a second set of trainees to play so they get training.

Playing two games will not increase training speed. They will get experience, yes, but it is minimal.

Ok thankyou... that helps, its very realistic... playing in a friendly is not a big deal for a starter, but is worth more to a reserve player... and that and the league cup, is how you get youngsters playing time... ahh, I understand now... thanks...

right, and a good thing to remember is not necessarily to have 2 complete teams...but at least 2 complete sets of players at the position are you training. say if you were training forwards, have 6 on the roster so 3 can play league matches and 3 can play midweek friendlies...

ahh.. this helps... so - how long do you generally train at a position?

Good luck to everyone in the BS Cup tonight, except for Norge, I want another win and be in a dominating position of my group going in to play Mark. Should be a good match tonight, this is my last week of this friendly lineup though, as I am making some changes to my team to make the defense stronger and bring younger players in the midfield.

At least a full season (14 weeks) or more likely two seasons. At the outset and during the off season you should consider a week or two of stamina training.

I don't want to sound like a baby, but being 3-1 down this early in the match, I would like to bring up a point that I found out while researching Norge,
1) he has 21 players plus a coach on his roster.

2) here is the roster from his last league game Craanen - Vogeler, Barrero, Storie - Lockwood, Chit-Fu, Bales, Görnitz - Lara, Bourque, Mevissen, match ID 17300086

3) here is his lineup tonight, Hövel - Puig, Barrero, Storie - Shea, Cooke, Bales, Görnitz - Lara, Portillo, Bourque

Those 6 names in bold all appear on both teams. The problem I have is with 21 players, he should have no problem fielding enough different players. I thought the rule was 5 players most from your first team. If I end up losing this, I would like to make a protest to the result.

That's just my bias opinion from the guy that is losing 3-1 right now. :(

I'm with KS on this. If you can field close to a full 2nd team, you should do so. And no injuries either.

I accidentally played 6 this week too (b/c I played a 4-3-3 in both my league and bs cup games and forgot to swap out one of my forwards)(who only drew 1 star in each of the games anyway) so I will recuse myself from this deliberation.

OTOH, the forward I left in is usually a second teamer, so maybe that doesn't count......

HEY! sorry guys I am DC Untied!

haha, i used alot of reserves actually, a reserve keeper, midi, central defender, and i went back to using 3-4-3 in stead of 3-5-2 or 442 which i had started using, so that i could use a trainee or two.... it seems i still overdid it though :( 6-0 ha, umm, i think its time for me to buy more players when i get out of the hole! im 240k right now
i need to upgrade my midfield...

just to add, yeah i only have 17 players so its kind of hard to use all reserves, but i tried to put them in key roles

even though my team played in a friendly outside of the bs cup i will post my result. 6-0 win!!!!! very happy for my players, and btw, i had 4 starters in which is not too shabby. hard to field 11 b team players when you have 22 players, and 3 of them are injured. :\

Yeah scott, we knew you'd have trouble with the limited roster you have know, my main complanit is that Norge has 21 players on his roster and still started 6 first teamers. I had also thought that we decided that 5 was the max first teamers you could field, unless, like your case, you didn't have enough players to do that.

I mean if I lose my appeal now, I won't be as upset as I would have when I wrote the original message, as for those of you that watched the matches, I lost in PK's so that is 1 point for me at least if I lose the appeal. I would just like everyone's opinion on the situation and maybe a consenus on whether or not anything should happen to the result. I am throwing myself at the mercy of the hattrick council for the bs cup, whcih I assume is all the other members of the cup except for me and Norge. So I guess maybe a consenus vote as to which side you are on, whether he was in the wrong or not.

Actually another opinion may be, since Scouser and Panatha didn't play last week, you could always make the decision to have us replay it. Just giving some options here. :)

ye, you should get something out of that and norge should be fined. i was thinking maybe give a point or 2 to u and take 1 or from norge...maybe something like that?

Well see the thing is, I am currently getting a point from the game, because I got the game tied, but lost on PK's, so I already have one point. I mean I don't know what wants to be done, I'm just giving everyone on the boards all the info, so that a non-bias opinion does not decide what should happen in the situation.

I play Panatha next Wednesdsay right, so you guys should have a replay with the correct amount of starters. That should settle it.

I propose this. Since 4 points were given out for that game 3 for the win and 1 for the PK loss how about we split them evenly, each team getting two. This would be fair I think.
