Should Major League Baseball get rid of divisions and interleague play, and simply have the champion of the National League play the champion of the American League in the World Series?

With 14 teams in the American League, each team could play the 13 others 12 or 13 times for a 156 or 169 game schedule.

With 16 teams in the National League, each team could play the 15 others 10 or 11 times for a 150 or 165 game schedule.

I'm not looking for debate. Many soccer fans claim a single table is the way it should be. I want to know what baseball fans think. Please eliminate any monetary considerations.

The divisions are fine. They are just a part of Major League Baseball. I have nothing wrong with them.

I do however don't like the fact that one division has 6 teams and another one has 4 teams and others have 5. I would like it if they all had the same amount.

Those same soccer fans are hoping their club makes the Champions League, the UEFA Cup, or at least survival. If the only consideration was a domestic championship, I suspect many soccer leagues would be restructured.

As for baseball, there are way too many teams now to go back to a single table per league.

I agree 100%. They need to move the Astros over to the AL West, or move the Expose to Portland and put them in the AL West.

A 4 team division in a 30 team league is silly.

I too agree that 4 teams in a division is not good, but with that move, you then need to move a team from the NL Central to the NL East. In that case, I would probably move the Pirates into the East.

Weren't they thinking about restructuring the divisions completely and change them to North, South, East, West like in the NFL? I thought I remember reading this a couple seasons ago.
