Today Steven Gerrard was voted PFA Writers of the Year. Do you agree with this decision or should it of been Giggs, Ronaldo or Lampard What is your view?

I do not agree and it should have been Vidic.

Gerrard is a fine player and one of the best in the world.

Whether he is deserving of this award this year is open to understandable question.

Lampard has been more consistant, as has Vidic and Rooney. Gerrard has been outstanding but I suspect he has won it because he gained more individual votes than the rest, as a consequcne of the rest being shred between Rooney and Vidic.

I'll raise a glass to StevieG on this.

Why? He didn't do anything.

Which makes it even more puzzling that he was awarded this in the first place...... :p

Other than play football I can't think what else you want him to do, handstands maybe?

There isn't a single player in the league who hasn't.

The league game at home to Liverpool aside, he's been exemplary at the back. Anyone judging a players season based on a handful of mistakes is an imbecile of the highest calibre.

Vidic had an exceptional season and was crucial to United's success at the back and in the league. He was able to be solid in defense and contributed a few keys goals throughout all of United's campaigns.

It can be argued though, that Gerrard is the only reason why Liverpool had as much (as little :D) success as they did this season. So, if the aim of the PFA award is to go to the player whose team is the most reliant on him, then Gerrard wins.

So what your saying is Liverpool are a one man team. If am not mistaken Torres is in the top 5 goalscorers this season. Dirk Kuyt scored at least 15 goals from midfield, yes we did finish 2nd this season to a good team, i really don't think we are reliant on Gerrard, do you.

On the contrary I think Liverpool sometimes play better as a team when Gerrard is not around. Alonso and <ascherano certainly contribute more going forward.

Good team Liverpool. They'll be a very strong contender next season providing Rafa doesn't spunk his money away on dross like Dossena etc.........

shut up clown.

I know who you really are dude You were on the ITV forums ages ago, and everyone thought you were a clown then.

The Player of the Year does not make a hand full of high profile cock ups.

plain and simple.

Secondly, over the season very little of the ball was played in United's half due to your midfield and attack keeping the ball and the chuttle sh*tting themselves when they played you.

Vidic = No way.

That comment, right there, sums up your understanding of the game.

You sir are the clown. I know my stuff. You have just demostrated quite clearly that you know nothing by dismissing a players claim to POTY based on two games. What a joke you and your unsubstantiated opinions are. Go and soak your head.

Kuyt does not play in midfield.

Kuyt does not play in midfield.

He's usually played on the wing now.

Harry Boulton

He plays as a right sided forward really, in a similar position to where Ronaldo plays. He's usually the first to join Torres and Gerrard in attack while Alonso, Mascherano and Riera play the "midfield" roles.
