Capello targets English job

Roma boss Fabio Capello has revealed he wants to manage in England, sparking speculation that he could join Chelsea or Tottenham in the summer.
The former Real Madrid boss, who has one year left on his Roma contract, is keen to move abroad.

"I would like to have an opportunity to coach abroad, especially in England," he told Spanish newspaper El Pais.

Capello's admission could interest managerless Spurs while Chelsea are reportedly also looking for a new boss.

Capello is said to be disenchanted with the state of affairs at Roma, and Italian football's cash troubles.

Just four months ago, Roma were prime candidates to clinch the Scudetto and make progress in the Uefa Cup.

But they crashed out of Europe with defeat against Villareal in the Uefa Cup fourth round and they are 11 points behind Serie A leaders AC Milan.

The on-field success was helping divert the fans' attention away from the club's ongoing financial problems.

Only last summer, Roma came close to being excluded from all competitions after failing to have their finances in order.

(My guess is Chelsea)

Well he definitely wants out of Italy, with all the money troubles and everything. A return to Spain is unlikely as already proved himself at Real Madrid. He might be brought in to replace Hitzfeld at Bayern Munich.

But you're right, he'll surely be snapped up by Chelsea. He wants to go, they want him, he'll be there come the end of the season. For a club in our position I'd much prefer someone like Ranieri to him anyway, a man who can build a Europe qualifying squad without countless millions.

Top choice is still Mourinho though, and I've seen a few reports suggesting the board have him in mind, especially with all the Trapp speculation sounding like coming to nothing. Come on Jose!

Could you mail me some of these reports when you find them, re Mourinho, i've got nothing to do and a bit of reading would be very useful!

Or at least tell me where to find them!

Would be great!

There's a great big thread on Spurs Community which has them all scattered along it in chronological order.

Capello in a heartbeat for me. Of the mentioned possibilities the only one I'd prefer to Capello is Martin O'Neill. Mainly because if he found success at Spurs, I suspect he'd stay, while I expect Capello to return to Italy in a few years regardless of his success (or lack thereof) at Spurs.
