I just want to know people's opinions on this topic. Say you've got a player who's fast but average in most other areas. Would you get something like the Vapors to play to your strenths, or something like the predators to help improve his weaknesses (in this case, shooting)?
I'm one who would try to improve another area that ails me. I'm one of the aforementioned players, have done both, and found the latter to be better for me. My vapors didn't do too much for me, but my preds really helped to improve my shot. I'm starting to get foot and knee pains now (most likely from the overuse of my vapors), so I'm going for the new AZT 90's for comfort.
So the question is how do you select your boots?

resonable as far as budget, good looking, light, and most of all do they fit me not only on my foot but my personality and my style of play and foot shape. just because a boot is real nice doesn't mean its for you. i like to have something no one else on the field is gonna have but thats just me. and of course durable that means not addidas or nike lol. ive seen so many pairs of torn ass adidas and nikes its rediculous. i want what Freddy Adu wear after seeing his interview

My Adidas Pulse's soleplate is starting to come off, after just 3 games! Agree with you on Adidas.
For Nike, I think it really have to depends on which model. I personally had owed the Mercurial R9, Vapor and AZT 2. The AZT 2 is probably the most durable boot I have worn. Nearly 2 years old and not a single sign of breaking apart. The Mercurial R9 broke after 10 months, soleplate coming off.

Did you buy your Pulses on eBay or in a shop? I've got mine for quite some time now and they are still perfect! If you got them on eBay than they are salesmen samples which might have quality problems. If you got them in a shop than you should return them or send them back to adidas with the receipt & letter...you'll get new ones back!

I got them from a shop 3 weeks ago... I am not sure whether I can return them or get an exchange but will try it today. Thanks a lot for the suggestion.

i had the manias last season and i wore them every game , even in the rain and i had practice 4 times a week so i wore them almost every day and they are still in perfect condition.so i disagree that adidas is not durable.

hmm, i've had my copa mundials for 2 years and they are still my favorite boot. So broken in they fit like a glove.
HAd no trouble with wear...
I had a pair of beckenbauers for 3 years. Gave them to a friend who still uses them today...
Again, no problems with them holding up.

I agree. My mate got them the day they came out on the UK from a well known sports sshop, and we had a school game. Half-way throught the 1st Half, he went to clear it, and the back part holdin the last 2 blades, just snapped and he had to chnage to some reliable pumas. i say get the Nike AZT III's
