...with other Celtic sides (champions preferred) or even for that matter with other SPL champions???

I'm just curious. Don't have much of a frame of reference with having just started watching/following the SPL this season. I know Rangers ran away with it last year, that's it.

Emm, Ranger won it on goal difference last year.

In my opinion, this is the best club side to come out of Scotlamd.

Oh come on, what about Jock Stein's Celtic of '67?

How many goals did the '67 side concede?

Last time I saw the table, Celtic had conceded just 16...that's just unbelivable stuff defensively...especially with Magnus Hedman in net for part of the year. :)

IMHO the European results are what really count. The '67 team won THE European Championship, in addition to the domestic double.

I'm under no illusions - this year's team would still be annihilated in the CL, even with recent form.

It the best Celtic team i've seen. Hopefully i'll never see them with such a good team again!

But in fairness there's not many clubs in Scotlamd :p

Celtic's team is probably comparable to the Dundee Utd and Aberdeen sides of the 1980s. Not up with 67 yet. The difference is in european silverware. If they win the uefa cup they might be up there with them because of the financial climate in football these days i.e. the richest win.

for me its a close call between todays team and the lisbon lions

the lions edge it probably because of the 1 player

This side doesnt even compare with the lisbon lions, this side doesnt even compare with the quality street kids, to put it in perspective, the lions or the nucleous of them and the following generation reached the finals of the european cup twice, being the first non latin side to ever win it and reaching the quarters or semis of successive european campaigns for something like a decade running, not to mention 9 league titles in a row.
I think the lions edge it on more thank jinky too,a team containing the likes of mcneill, lennox, murdoch etc would be a handful for most sides today, especially with their "you score 4 we'll score 5 ethos".

two totally different styles of play between the 2 teams so its hard to compare them that way

and yeah i think the lisbon lions will probably never be bettered, but todays team has a winning mentality which makes them special........75 or so games at home unbeaten which even for the lisbon lions would be impressive......i accept the scottish league aint up to much but its still impressive....competing well in europe despite the money restrictions of playing in scotland.....i just feel that over the years the scottish league has went backwards while teams from the bigger leagues have got stronger, which makes our last season and a half incredible to me

thats why i would rate todays team up there with the greatest celtic sides of all time

its all about opinions though
