It seems as if United has less than 2000 tickets remaining for the opener, so theres a good chance by Wednesday or Thursday the game should be sold out of all 25k seats. :)

Quick Ticketmaster check makes this seem like a reality.

4 seats search puts you in 201
20 seats put you in 121

Makes me think they have almost sold out the good seats.

Call me pleasantly surprised.

According to very reliable sources within the club as of this morning. They are hoping to get to a sellout by midweek and then be able to use the sellout for marketing other home games.

The Lower Bowl limit seems to be absolute. They really want to steer folks to season tickets or prepurchase group sales.

Good news but I stil think they ought to open the upper deck. Milk this opportunity for as much $$ as you can get.

That's the whole idea - you get more money by creating more demand for all the games, you create demand by selling out the opener, not by making it easy for everyone to get in that once and never see half of them come back.

This is going to be great having a sellout in the lower bowl.

Now we just need goals. The resulting wall of sound will knock Landon right out of his boots.

It is a sellout as of last night (sunday) Dan Giffin from the marketing office told my dad. I think it is over 25,000 people and the second home game is near sold out as well. I hope all of those people see something that makes them want to come back for more. We gotta make an atmosphere for the non-soccer fans.

After selling out the lower bowl, I hope tickets will be sold to the upper levels.
Personally, I'd like to see the match outsell the WUSA opening match: a vote for Feddy's feet over Brandi's bra. :)

Great news guys. Should be an awesome atmosphere on tv. I hope the DC United supporters groups are shaking the stadium as always.

As of 5:15 PM on Monday, March 29, Ticketmaster.com was still offering a block of 4 seats in Section 119 row 4 for the opener vs SJ on April 3.

I don't know what the official source is on this, but I'd like to see a Sold Out label on somebody's website at some point this week.

I originally hoped that they would sell the upper deck too. But if the result of closing it off is to guarantee a packed lower bowl for at least the first few home games...well, then, I'd rather have that. Don't worry, it will be just as loud.

The good thing about a sell out is that those people that wanted to see Freddy may decide to buy tickets for the next home game where as if they had just seen him on April 3rd, they might wait for a later game.

I've been to RFK, but I wasn't in the upper deck...What's the story with concessions, etc for up there? I know the general philosophy for the Revs only opening half the stadiums is that they don't have to pay for security and concession personel for that side. Personally, I think it stinks in Gilette, but if they only opened the lower bowl, I wouldn't have a problem with that at all...

Also, there is nothing wrong with putting a demand on tickets...
