I like what I see in this selection...
alan thompson ,defoe ,wright-phillips,....
the shock selection is Norwichs keeper Robert Green.

Robert Green is a very classy young goalkeeper who I have seen play on a few occasions. He would have been in the Premiership already if it wasn't for Norwich having Delia's money and pricing him at near 5 million quid. He's worth it, a very big reason why Norwich are clear in the top 2 in Divison 1. Obviously no Premiership experience makes it a bit unusual, but as a keeper I'd rather they picked someone inexperienced but genuinely talented than depend solely on someone occasionally dodgy like Walker, or too old like Martyn. When you bear in mind that Richard Wright and Kirkland are injured, it makes sense.
I'm happy to see Anthony Gardner, Jloyd Samuel, Wright-Phillips and Thompson in there, as well as Defoe being the Owen replacement. Shame that Emile Heskey is still in there ahead of James Beattie, but I can understand the thinking behind that.

now that he's selected them, i hope he gives thompson, w-phillips, and defoe lots of playing time. might as well try them out properly seeing as he's never gonna field his first 11. would like to see defoe and rooney up front.

Phil Chuckle, Emile Heskey and Ian Walker are in the squad, again. What do they have to do to get dropped???
Nice to see Defoe, SWP and Thompson in the squad though. No doubt Eriksson will make the call ups of all 3 pointless by only playing them for the last 10 minutes of the game.
Anyway, here is the team I want us to play with.
----------Robinson
Mills----Terry--Woodgate--Samuel
Becks--Gerrard---Parker---Wright-Phillips/Thompson
----------Rooney
----------------Defoe

Beckham is major doubt for the sweden game apparently.
He was a doubt before the weekends games but madrid still fielded him against sevilla.
Reminds of me the last game when sol campbell had a "life-threatening injury" but still played for arsenal 3 days after the england game.
