So shall we just pay off every Scandinavian ref to save time?

According to a City fan on CFCNet:

Was at a question's and answer's night with Hughes and Cooke last night and it looks like Sturridge will be leaving us this summer, Hughes said we are not pre paired to meet he's wage demands (rumoured at 60k a wk) and he's free to talk to other clubs, so doesnt sound too promising.

Citeh will pay 100m for Kaka put wont pay a VERY promising talent 60k a week? Lord knows what Kaka would have been on. Something doesnt jive.

Just in case anyone missed it in the previous transfer thread, Chelsea has offered Michael Ballack a one year contract extension (believed to be worth £121,000 a week).

For me, a midfielder of the attacking mid/number 10 variety (Diego Ribas) and a creative winger (Q on a permanent?).

LB too definitely though. Who do we actually have as back up there. Paulo? Bertrand?

Scrolling through the page, saw what I wrote and immediately flashed to this:

Take a player on permanently when we've hardly seen 30 minutes of him? I would disagree with that.

For me:

-Striker
-Winger
-Attacking mid

Let Bertrand be back up to Cole. Cole's injury record is pretty good so he shouldn't be needed to excess. He's an England U21 international who's had a good season at Norwich where he was rated far better than Keiran Gibbs. We don't need another left back, give him a chance.

Plus we have Paddy Van Aanholt.

I'd bring in a:

Goal scoring striker.
Top class Winger.
Younger replacement for Deco/Ballack should they go.

more on Sessegnon

seen him just a few times and he looks a decent player. Just happy to be linked to young attacking players for a change I suppose.

AC Milan to bid 15 mil for Drogba.

Also some talk about us getting involved for Diego Milito of Genoa. Not really sold on that at all.

No Millito please, he's 29 and will be 30 in June.

Good player though.

Again, would prefer younger.

Between Bos, Ivano and Mancieene and Paulo think we are covered and if we get Zhirkov more covered but if we do get one Taiwo for me

depending on departures this summer, lets not forget that both Ferreira and Boswinga have shown the ability to play, and play well, at LB as well.

IMO we need 2 strikers (1 CF and 1 second Striker), a winger, and attacking mid, and a DM.

60k a week is lot of money even for those who have money to throw around like Citeh. Theo Walcott was on 20k a week for Arsenal while Jonny Evans was on 8k a week for us until recently when both of them signed new deals. And, we are talking of players who are both full internationals and have much more experience than Sturridge.

If you start paying someone like Sturridge 60k, you might as well offer a million to a Kaka. Oh well, they very well might have

AC Milan to bid 15 mil for Drogba.

I was thinking about starting a thread for this specific topic but might as well discuss it here.

I think we should sell him if we get a decent offer but it has to be £15m or more, preferably. Now, hang on, hear me out...

Firstly, he was born in Match 1978 so he's 31 now... he won't get any younger and if we leave it a year he might be worth almost nothing. I'd consider it best to put the money for him towards another top-flight striker, possibly one that plays in a different way and is better on the ball.

Secondly, I'm not bothered about his antics after the Barca game, particularly. It's a bit embarrassing but, screw it... I'm not interested in the fella as son-in-law material so who the hell cares.

What I AM bothered about is if the fellas antics, there and at other times, get him banned for, say, 5 or 6 European matches. Depending on which other forwards we've got available and who we're facing in the group stage, (if they're strong sides), we might not even get OUT of the group stage without our main forward. Let's be honest, it's not as if this is the first time we've suffered in huge games because of his actions. He got himself sent off before the end of the CL final last year and left JT taking a penalty which he would never normally do.

Lastly, and this is the one that's occurred to me over the past couple of days which I'd ask you all to consider because it's not an obvious point but IS worth thinking about...

I heard on Sky Sports News that UEFA ref's had a meeting where they showed the dangers to the ref of falling, (npi), for a forward that dives. Guess which forward they chose to illustrate the point!!!! Yes, our Drogs was the man they showed diving, over and over again to illustrate how a cheat works. This was BEFORE, (although I'm not sure when), the match against Barca.

Now, leaving aside the matter of how outrageous that is, (and it IS!!!), my question to you all is this...

If Drogba isn't awarded a penalty when a defender grabs and pulls his shirt and then, when that doesn't work, kicks his feet from under him, how CAN he be awarded a penalty????

More to the point, if all a defender has to do is foul him KNOWING that he'll never get the penalty awarded against him, isn't that what he's gonna do???? I would!

Last question... do you really want a player like that playing for your side. Note: It doesn't MATTER if it's fair or not... it isn't, obviously because, for instance, Steven Gerrard dived in much the same way as Drogba does sometimes, (with minimal contact), to get awarded the penalty for the goal that meant they were tied with Milan in 2005. The problem is, they don't show films of him, do they, because, (bluntly), he's better at it and he doesn't do all the histrionics afterwards.

I'm not saying this lightly and can understand if you all disagree but I honestly feel it's time to say bye-bye to the fella and look for someone else even if it means another way of playing the game.

Maybe it's my huge and shiny brain working overtime, I don't know.... but I think it's worth thinking about.
