Calling Hiddink an abject failure is a bit hyperbolic, don't ya think? Their defense went through a poor patch but his Chelsea side has been solid throughout. Also gave us the most exciting game in the CL this season too.

On Avram Grant though, sacking a manager because he was two points away from winning the league and a slip away from nipping the CL was ridiculous imo. He didn't get a fair chance really. With four managers in two seasons (and a fifth one supposedly on its way), it may be some time before Chelsea find their rhythm again.

And nah, it's not the biggest mistake Roman has ever made. That's silly.

no one here or anywhere understood Avi Grants tactics and decisions, thats why we did not accept him. Same goes for LPS.

Guus Hiddink is the only coach that did a TREMENDOUS job after Mourinho, based on his tactics and decisions, that why we accept him.

Spurs fans seem to have a very short-term memory considering they sacked the manager that got them closet to a CL spot, and they have never looked like getting close to it since then. And more importantly the players that use to go to them for cheap will go to Man City. I doubt they'll be able to take them Everton or Villa and will probably fight for 8th next season if anything.

Sometimes you can perform well despite, not because of, a manager. Tough concept.

The biggest mistake was appointing him in the first place. The general consensus is that we achieved despite him, as harsh as that sounds. It was never going to be a long term thing and I did feel sorry for him when he left. I don't think winning the CL would have saved him.

Now we've had 5 managers in less than two seasons: Mourinho, Grant, Scolari, interim, Guus (longterm interim). And, now that Guus sprinkling holy water on the team has resulted in only an FA Cup final appearance, I'm guessing it will be an even half dozen by August.

I was going to say that was RA's biggest mistake ever. But "ever"? I would say he would probably rethink his association with Khodokorovsky in 2003 that lead to his buying Chelsea. That seems like about a million years ago.

What Grant had in his favour when he became manager was a very good squad available to him. No credit to him as he did not buy most of the players. His team selections were usually questionable and he seldom made substitutions in the first 70 minutes of a game. I cannot remember him ever making a tactical substitution in all his time as manager.

In my opinion, Avram Grant was out of his depth and that is what any casual observer would have concluded from his CV when he became manager.
