An interesting article and statement from Wenger ahead of today's CL game in England. Seems very consistent with what many of us have observed about the contrasts between British and Iberian refereeing. Wonder how it will play out tonight.

Ferguson asked for a strong refereeing performance in their match-up with Porto and that made little to no difference in the end.
(Heard the same Russian linesman bottled 4 or 5 offsides calls in the Milan match yesterday as well)

So much for the dangers of an Iberian referee calling the game overly tight by EPL standards ... this guy was the king of "let 'em play." Many, many wild & late tackles, particularly in the first half hour, and nary a card to be seen.
