Alcohol! Oh, how Homer Simpson comes up with clever proverbs sometimes.
Looking forward to Sam Adams Summer Ale coming out, one of my favorite beers. Regular Sam Adams is good too as is Newcastle Brown Ale. I've grown to like Boddington's.
Man, I need a drink.

I'm living in the home of Newc Brown, well, close enough anyway. I agree, it's very good.
Summer drinks, mostly ciders, are just starting to emerge over here too.

Speaking of cider, I bought a six-pack of Hornsby's Crisp Apple Cider over the weekend. Very good, goes down nice with the just the right amount of sweetness. It doesn't have that bite like Blackthorn or Strongbow.

I haven't tried that one... I used to like strongbow, but I think Bulmers and Woodpecker are my two favorites at the moment.

I prefer Hornsby's, actually, although it doesn't make a good Black Velvet (Guiness on top, Cider below) because the Guiness doesn't float right on it. Cider will sneak up on you, though----used to drink pints of it while playing in a darts league, and man, let me tell you----about 3 pints in you get into a nice throwing groove, but at 4, you're sloppy drunk. And you never feel it coming on. Hornsby's has both a "Hard Cider" and "Crisp Apple," both of which are really good.

I've heard that the North East folks look down on Newky Brown like we do on Budweiser. Have you seen this?

I've heard this called as Snake Bite. I've tried this before and it does hit you later on when you don't expect it though. I think I'm gonna buy another case of Hornsby's Crisp Apple for Mother's Day. :D

I always thought Newcastle was pretty popular up there, kind of like Guiness. Never know, though.
On a related note, never try to order an Australian a Fosters. =) It'd be like vacationing in Germany, meeting someone, and having them buy you a Papst Blue Ribbon because you're American, apparently. Having tried a few different Australian beers, I do have to admit, you won't touch Fosters again if you get hooked on Coopers. They have a vintage ale with tons of flavor that's a lot of fun.

Nah, I haven't really seen that. It's not as popular as you would imagine, but I've seen plenty of geordies drinking it, and none of my friends have ever said anything when I have. Sometimes they'll chuckle, and ask why I'm not drinking budweiser, but I don't think they look down on it. But most people seem to prefer euro lagers.

Yeah, snakebites are killer. They are really popular with University students out here. They mix half strongbow and half cheap lager, like carlsberg, and then put in blackcurrant cordial. So it basically tastes like carbonated juice, kinda like a juice squeeze. :D Safe to say it sneaks up on you.

I think I might've saw Woodchuck Pear Cider at High Times in Costa Mesa. If I'm ever down that way, I'll check it out.

MMMMM. I'm thirsty now too. May I add Franziskaner to the list of fine wheat based (like Sam's Summer ale) alcoholic beverages.
Franziskaner also comes with the extra added incentive that it is approved by god being originally brewed by Franciscan Monks and all:D
