Jorge Larrionda, who sent off three players in the United States' group stage defeat by Italy at the 2006 World Cup, will referee at the Confederations Cup in South Africa

....

The list includes three from UEFA - England's Howard Webb, Massimo Busacca of Switzerland and Sweden's Martin Hansson - and two from South America - Larrionda and Carlos Amarilla of Paraguay.

Matthew Breeze of Australia represents the Asian Confederation, Africa has Coffi Codjia of Benin, Michael Hester of New Zealand is there for Oceania and CONCACAF's referee is Carlos Batres of Guatemala. Another African referee, Eddy Maillet of the Seychelles, is there as a first reserve.

Iraq? Good for them. The story of their national team has been told many times, and the hardships they have had to endure and overcome are a testament to their dedication and love of the sport.

The only appointment that surprises me is Amarilla. I thought it would be Baldassi.
