The Horrors New Single...........FCUKING ROCKS!
Simple as, its like New Order before they went electronic
Not exactly sure why, but to me The Horrors sound like Echo and the Bunnymen trying to sound like Joy Division. :D They are good, though

I think you have to throw in some 60's Girl Bands (On the new Album the Track "Who can say" has that sort of spoken word over the music, very leader of the pack).
To me it sounds like someones playing My Bloody Valentine with a Post-Punk Tint to it, and very surfy guitar tones at time (Not a suprise with a Fender Jaguar and that much Reverb)
BUT the main reason I opened this thread was to post one of my favourite songs of all time and its Mancunian.

I used to see her live all the time for like $10 AUD at all the local indie Clubs when she was living here in Melbourne bit over a year back

Well, this is odd. I primary school from ages about 6-12 my two best friends were in the same class in school as me, one a girl and the other a boy. We didn't live too far away from each other, but due to family matters and different secondary schools we didn't see each other again much afterwards, and I hadn't seen either of them for almost a decade. At a party the other day, I bumped into the guy I hadn't seen - the two of us had been talking for a few minutes about an hour beforehand, and then had been talking again for a good 10-15 minutes before either of us even copped it. All is going well with him anyway.
Then there is the girl, who I still haven't seen. But I did bump into her brother a week or two back and having heard she had taken up singing a good bit, I pretended to be up to speed about her 'doing really well' and whatnot. Until just there yesterday... it turns out she had had songs in the soundtracks to P.S. I Love You, Seven Pounds, Grey's Anatomy, and that 'Let the Sun Shine' song off the Hibernian/Norwich Union ad.

She has also won awards, played at the second biggest music festival in the country, opened for John Legend and Aretha Franklin and she hasn't even released a debut album yet - it's due out a week from Friday!
Not quite going to school with Rihanna, but all in all a bit of a headspinner.

Recent listens for me -
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_l1WCBJeGpv8/SeJ9JstfhVI/AAAAAAAABxA/AaGcdG-Khns/s400/Noel+Gallagher+-+Dreams+we+have+as+children.jpg
Noel Gallagher did an acoustic set for the Royal Cancer Trust, and this is a recording of it. Great collection of Oasis tracks, b-sides, solos, etc. Paul Weller came on and did a couple great covers, including The Butterfly Collector.

Kenna - Make Sure they see my face. Lot of great production from the Neptunes, including Chad Hugo, the quieter of the two producers.

Ceu- Remixed. A Brazilian singer, great voice, lot of good summer chill music. This EP has some great remixes, the best being the Bombay Dub Orchestra version.

nice recs on Ceu and Laura Izibor. I'm going to find some more of their stuff, well not Izibor's yet, when I get home.
If you like Izibor check out Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Black Joe Lewis

Good spot right back, Bluto, on the Dap-Kings. I've been getting into some of Sharon Jones and crew's stuff recently.
If you like that, check out The Budos Band.

Friendly Fires are great, Skeleton Boy has to be their best song on the ablum, but its a great play all the way through.
Cut Copy are amazing have loved seeing them live a bunch of time, they're from Melbourne too! Tbh i prefer their second album but their first one has some great tracks as well.
Empire of the sun (another australian band) I never realised were known in the US, knew NME and the like had been pushing them in the UK, interesting.
