As long as I'm "trolling" I thought I'd ask if anyone read it. Good article, and if you're an American Soccer fan you can not help but feel good for guy, it really is a dream story.

Incidentially, I did not know that Friedal and Keller refused to sign the petition for approval by the council. They took the position that it was too flattering of Howard and his accomplishment in the MLS. I personally thought that was pretty bush league not to throw your total support behind your countryman, especially after they had such a tough time getting their permits (according to SI)

I thought the article was trying to say that Keller and Friedel were just upset that Howard's permit was being fast-tracked when they had so much trouble. But Howard seemed to understand their frustration and accept it and move on.

Of course, I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that going into this season, Howard was number three on the national team, behind only those two, and mainly in need of practice against top-flight competition...
