Need some help. I remember some time ago lots of discussion of a foul beginning outside the PA and continuing into the PA resulting in a PK. Google has "not" been my friend on this, nor ussoccer.com, asktheref etc.
Any help with links, videos etc?

31. A defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area but finishes
inside the penalty area. What action should the referee take?
He would award a penalty kick.

If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and
continues holding him inside the penalty area, the referee must award
a penalty kick.

The specific instance you may be referring to (Which was not a hold but a possible continued shove IIRC) was Colorado's Facundo Erpen vs. Chivas USA's Merlin in 2007.
