I would love to see an interview with Bruce when he retires from the National Team...just giving his honest opinion on which players were whimps, didn't try, didn't play well with others, etc.

I'd like to see Bruce win the World Cup and give the finger to everyone on the other thread calling for his head because of friendly matches.

Are you American?? Wheres the winning atitude?? This is'nt Leeds were talkin about, you enjoy losing with them!
If we win the World Cup it will be because of talent and the will and fight of Americans not patty cake Arena. And then you can stick that finger.....

We should be winning games with our hands tied behind our back when it comes to teams as Haiti,...that is if we have any ambition to win the WC anytime soon.

I have sent a message to Bruce, but i doubt HE will answer me, pretty much i told him he is responsible for the results and the way our team is playing. I was gona ask him if he can sleep at night after the Haiti game knowing WC qul is upon us.

I don't say he should be fired, but he has to know we are not pleased and he will be held accountable.

I think knowing how to trap the ball would be a minimum prerequisite to winning the World Cup. You might not want to hold your breath too long.

When did US fans adopt the stereotypical European soccer giant attitude that we can beat teams simply by showing up? We beat Cuba and Canada by by 4 or 5 goals, and suddenly teams should be intimidated by us? Plenty of games I watched last year weren't pretty, even some that we won: Argentina, Venzula, El Salvador, Denmark. That's not even including the Confed Cup, which on all accounts we were outclassed.

We're still at the stage where we earn our results. The attitude that we should beat anybody without trying is - among other things - what got Portugal, France, and Argentina knocked out of the last World Cup.

Looking forward to Arena answering some questions about player development and what his plan is for the WCQs.

My question -- see if he answers it.

Bruce -- I'm curious about your philosophy concerning the age of the team. How do you view age when making your selections. Generally speaking, is there an age that is too old or too young? Is there a limit to the number of 30-year-olds that you would ideally want on the field? Or is that a false concern? Do you think your team is getting old?

Bruce :

Roger Milla was 40 when he became a star for Camerroon at Italia '90, age has nothing to do with selection but who is the best 11, who can do the job.

I predict that he will answer more questions than you think, and he will pi$$ off the questioners because of his blunt response.

I submitted questions asking Bruce to talk about

1 his options at outside back

2 his options at defensive midfield

3 if he was impressed by any of the U23s who played in the Olympic Qualifying tournament

4 if he thinks that it his job to motivate the players or pick motivated players

Good job- man, I would love to hear his answer to #4. I'd bet he would say the latter. However, he clearly has selected unmotivated players lately.

However he chooses to answer the question, he's under the microscope for our Haiti performance.

My question to Bruce:

Name: Phiuck Yiu, San Francisco, CA

Question: Hi Bruce, I was wondering if you are going to stop letting Landon be a little bitch and make him step up and play for once. Also wondering why you don't embrace our personnel and switch to a 3-5-2 formation? Do you think that Tony Sanneh will be a part of the 23 that go to Germany (if we qualify).

My 2nd Question:

Name: Phiuck Yiu, San Francisco, CA

Question: Hi Bruce, do you think if we can beat Mexico at Azteca in qualifying for the '06 tournament you'll pull out the infamous double fists of death celebration that we saw in Korea in '02?

Bruce - why are you farting around with John Wolyniec this close to WCQ?

My First "real" question was the first one Bruce answered. Interesting hint in his answer that Landon may have an "attitude" problem right now.

Yeah I noticed that too..

My question was right after yours. I'm glad to see that he sees Martino as a matter of when he gets consistent time and not if.

I do think Landon needs to go to Europe, more for HIS satisfaction than ours. He's not 18 anymore, and he's quite aware of this I think. He's just playing out his contract, which is respectable, and I don't think it's necessarily wrong that he doesn't want to go to Leverkeusen. He just needs a new start. So pay them for their investment and be done with it I say.
