Looking back over the past ten games, as Motterman posted earlier, we've given up 20 goals. Ugh... I started wondering about our fitness - going back 20 games, check out these stats:
Out of these the past ten games, we've let in these in the 2nd half of the last 10 matches:
2 from City
1 from Porto at OT
0 from Fulham
1 from Fulham
1 from Porto
1 from Leeds
2 from City in FA Cup
1 from Boro
2 from Everton
1 from Southampton
================
12 goals out of 20
2nd half goals In the previous 10 matches:
0 from Northhampton
1 from Wolves
0 from Newkie
1 from Bolton
0 from Villa
0 from Boro
1 from Everton
1 from Tottenham
1 from Citeh
0 from Stuttgart
================
5 goals out of 7
It seems to me that there are two major reasons for letting in such a percentage: (1) poor fitness, or (2) poor strategy.
I obviously feel Al's strategy's are hurting the team as well as the morale. But this brings into discussion fitness as well - so many injuries and so many goals let in have to lead you at least to this discussion. Maybe we are 100% fit but, in truth, when you aren't fit, you let in goals and get injured.
I could've gone back further (4thegame's site has the best display - http://www.4thegame.com/club/mufc/fixtures/) if someone would analyse the first 20 games, maybe we'd see a difference? As a season wears on, we expect more injuries at the end than in the middle...
If fitness is a problem, it would explain the lack of attack and commitment in the 2nd half lately...
