Remind me to give my wife a hug tonight for pulling my name out of the draft order cups along with #1.

I'll go ahead and get this draft started.

With the first pick in the Very Small Rocks (draft) Division of MFLS, Aviators select Forward Damani Ralph from Chicago, using up one of my 4 foreigner slots.

Hold the horses. Somehow, I dropped Justin's team, JG_Revs at BigSoccer.

Grrrrr I mixed up PM acceptances and overlooked Justin had already accepted. Let's go with 7 teams for the draft unless someone doesn't want to play.

I'll hold another double blind draw for draft positions using 7, instead of 6.

I conducted a double blind draw for the draft positions. I put numbers 1 - 6 in one cup, and our first names in another cup. Each slip of paper was folded 4 times. Then I had my wife select one from each cup until the draft order was established. The following is the order of the draft for Very Small Rocks Division of MFLS.

Odd Rounds:
1. Aviators - Hal
2. DCU Chickenhawks - Jay (DoctorJones24)
3. Nocturnal United - Jason (Darr)
4. Romans Roubles - Paul (Clanblue)
5. Tobacco Roma - Andrew (subbuteo)
6. Scouser Tommies FC - Mark (kopiteinkc)

Even Rounds:
1. Scouser Tommies FC - Mark (kopiteinkc)
2. Tobacco Roma - Andrew (subbuteo)
3. Romans Roubles - Paul (Clanblue)
4. Nocturnal United - Jason (Darr)
5. DCU Chickenhawks - Jay (DoctorJones24)
6. Aviators - Hal

This is the second draft league in a row where Mark drew the short straw. But, perhaps with only 6 teams drafting the 18 players and the coach, it won't be such a disadvantage, especially since we all have to comply with MFLS rules limiting each team to at most 4 foreigners or at most 4 players/coach from one team, while still staying within the salary cap.

Subbuteo suggested using a forum from his site for the actual draft and not necessarily do it real time with all 6 managers online at the same time. I just don't want to wait a day between picks. So, if your schedule is out of sync with the other managers, please pass on your preferences to another manager via email, or PM at BigSoccer to make picks on your behalf.

I served this role previously and am willing to do so again. It seems we have two different schedules with Darr and subbuteo. Jason can't participate in the draft from work and Andrew seems only available days as is studying for GRE's at night. I think night works better for most of the rest of us, although I can also check in during the day. That said, Andrew, try to put together an ordered wish list, and send me a copy. I only look at proxy lists when it's that manager's turn. You can also send me a phone number, Andrew, as I have unlimited minutes on my cell and could call you when it was your turn in case you wanted to take a study break, login and make your own picks.

Ignore the quoted post and draft order. I added Justin (JG_Revs) and reconducted the double blind draw. We now have 7 teams and this is the draft order.

3. Nocturnal United - Jason - darr
4. Scouser Tommies FC - Mark - kopiteinkc
5. Romans Roubles - Paul - Clanblue
6. Naval Aviators - Hal - Hal
7. Many Points FC - Justin - JG_Revs

Even rounds:

3. Romans Roubles - Paul - Clanblue
4. Scouser Tommies FC - Mark - kopiteinkc
5. Nocturnal United - Jason - darr

I don't know how long I'll be up tonight, I've got to work in the morning... I'm on Central Time... If we don't get started tonight I should be available most of the late afternoon to evening Monday after I get off work...

When we make a pick should we post the cap number too?... Along with what we have left?

Jason (darr), Justin (JG_Revs), Jay (DoctorJones24), Andrew (subbuteo), Paul (Clanblue), and Mark (kopiteinkc),

Check your BigSoccer Private Messages (PM)

I sent each of you a BigSoccer private message with the password for joining the Very Small Rocks Division of MFLS. I also included my cell phone number for any possible coordination for having me make your draft picks by proxy to keep the draft going.

Question

Are we picking a coach also??

Is there a separate draft for that round, Hal, what's your thoughts on that odd wrinkle in the MFLS set up?

My commute starts now, I'll check back in 45 minutes after I navigate wet roads and crazy drivers.

Hal

Yes, we are picking a coach.

No, it won't be a special round.

You are free to use your first round pick to get that special coach you want.

Thanks for the clarification Hal.

I have access to a computer at home and work (all day and all evening) for today, Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday night I fly to DC for a conference.

I will have access to computers at the conference in Arlington on Thursday and Friday, but it will be a little awkward.

Worst case scenario I will PM Hal my picks if we are not done by Wednesday night.

Darr on the clock?

Mark,

You got my cell phone number from the PM. Give me a call when you get to DC. Perhaps we can get together. You can also call me to make your picks.

Are you staying over for Saturday's DC game against San Jose? If you are, I could try to get you tickets to sit with me and some of my friends and see Freddy Adu's MLS debut, but more importantly, see DCU beat up on SJ Earthquakes.

I am way ahead of you!

I forgot you were in DC actually. Lanky on the Liverpool boards hooked me up with the Screaming Eagles and I have a ticket there and an invite to their tailgate.

So, yeh I am going to the DC-San Jose match, tailgate, Screaming Eagles section for the game, etc.

It'd be great to meet you, I plan to blow off as much of the conference as possible!!

Actually, you are behind me and just tossed in the white flag!!!

Stop by Sect 103, Row 9, Seats 1-4 at halftime and say high. I'm on the quiet side across from the Screaming Eagles, lower level about even with the 18 yard line behind the visitors bench.

Very true and as my MLS knowledge is limited too, I am keeping the white flag for this contest as well.

I will stop by at half time. :)
