Seems this one has escaped the notice of people here.
But bugger me - England won!
On day 4!
The Windies second innings collapsed - well 'collapsed' would do collapsing things a disservice. They were all out for 47.
Harmison gets 7-12.

What in the world has gone wrong with the West Indies batting? With a player like Brian Lara in their lineup, it's hard to believe such a thing. Take a look at this scoresheet in the second inning. It's almost surreal.

A day of shame and apologies in the Carribean. It seems Lara had a dislocated finger, which maybe a good excuse for him personally. But the rest of the team can't have any excuses for such a performance.

Sarwan: Duck! (his second)
Lara: Duck!
Chanders: Duck!
High score in 2nd innings: 15!
Truly pitiful. Even with the W.I. playing like this, I would like to follow the second test in POS. Anyone know of any (free) live audio feeds? BBC?

So my question is, what did headline writers in England do since they couldn't run the traditional "England Collapse" headers?

You won't find it on the BBC.
You will, however, find it here (http://www.talksport.net/listen).
Next test starts on Friday.

Thanks mac! You da man! You wouldn't happen to have any links for the India/Pakistan series, would you?

My immediate answer would be no - I only knew about the England link because I was listening to it in the car here and just assumed they had an online station.
However I could look around.
I don't know who's got the rights to it over here.
My guess would be sky - in which case it's unlikely to be free.

Why don't you check the India/Pakistan thread for that info? There is no known free service. But whatever services there are, are very cheap deals.

Brian Lara, what an amazing comeback! I really hope he breaks Matthew Hayden's record tomorrow.

Chandu,
I don't, but if he has to, then against the Poms would be ideal !!!!
Cheers.

Oh well what a topping to a wierd series.
England, on track for a whitewash of the Windies in Windyland and something no-one has done - allow the most over-hyped player a bit of batting practice.
It's a bit of a disappointment, but nevertheless it's a series win whatever the outcome.
And I notice no-one really gave a rats bollock about this series thread until England were on the back foot - funny that.
And as much fun as it would be for the Aussies to have Lara do the world record against 'the Poms' - it'll be nice to know Lara's taking it off an Aussie.

Not "taking it off" but "taking it back". Hayden took it off Lara who is trying to take it back (just now).

they prepared a lifeless flat batting wicket to avoid a whitewash...
LOL see how low the windies have sunk..
now people are wanking themselves over lara's innings after his pathetic contribution in the first 3 games..
thats sad..

the reason i think no one was mentioning this series was b/c it was soo one sided. now that lara is chasing a record, its giving people something to discuss.
btw, off topic, i think the england NZ series will be exciting.

Come on people, get real. No matter how dead the track is, and what the situation in the series is, you have to give proper credit where it is due. You have to take into account factors such as not playing stupid shots, amazing concentration, etc. The guy has done what nobody in the history of the game for 100+ years has done, for God's sake. If he's so overhyped, was it just a fluke that he had set a similar record 10 years ago? A true fan of the sport would tip their hat to this achievment, irrespective of the England or Australia sqabble.

Yes, indeed, hats off to the chap for his acheivement, on this occasion.
'Over-hyped'? Well yes. Sure he does what he did today, and that spell he had a while back. But the sheer amount of hype he recieved for what has been a career of soaring peaks but all too many troughs. For an immediate example, look at this series alone. If he was as great as the hype (to the extent that it is) suggests, he would have done something a little special when it mattered - not when the series is already lost.
I heard some Windies ex-players/fans (Darkus Howe amongst them - UK people might know him) on the radio commentary debating just such an issue.
They were mainly complaining about the way Lara is seen as some almost infallible King of cricket in that area. They put forward the idea that calling him that or regarding him as that, would mean that he's on a par with true greats of West Indian cricket - Malcolm Marshall, Gary Sobers and Viv Richards to name a few - and Lara clearly isn't in their league.
So, to to the 'over-hyped' thing, I'd agree. He's good, but blows little more cold than hot too often.
