I just wanted to wish my fellow Gooners the world over a very happy St. Totteringham's Day, as Sp*rs 0-1 loss at home to Boro has insured that Arsenal will finish above them in the table again. Now what I want to know is how best to celebrate this annual event.

I'll be having a shot of Matusalem Cuban rum. Added to ManU's loss to Porto, it's a good day for aņejo.

I agree, a day to remember. I have spent the last 15 minutes leaving messages on a friends mobile phone as he is at this minute driving back from Teeside. Tomorrow is his birthday, I won't be seeing him because i'll be at highbury, but I will be sure to drop round my sorrow's to him before I leave him to watch another episode of EastEnders on a Wednesday night.

Spurs are still a better club than Arsenal. More history amd more glory. Spurs still rule North London and you gooners will always be 2nd to them.

Well you've certainly got more to smile about looking at your History than thinking about your future, think about it, you even managed to get to the Carling Cup Final a few years back.

Before Wenger came to Arsenal, Arsenal where a really good club but always just slightly behind Spurs. Think of the 60s, Spurs where the kings back then.

I disagree. Arsenal had won the league in 89 and 91 and had consistently finished above Spurs. Spurs were still on par with Arsenal and had a great history. So did Arsenal, however.

i propose a st. totteringham's drinking salute. for every game before the end of the season that is left at st. totteringham's day, one has to drink a pint. in seasons like these coach, probably best to temporarily make a switch from guinness

We have to be careful about this, as, one of these years, it could turn into one of the biggest incidents of mass alcohol poisoning ever!

Erm.. Haven't you jumped the gun a little?

We're 33 points ahead of Tottenham, with a goal difference of 35 to their -4. There are 11 games to play by each side.

It is mathematically possible (ahem) for Arsenal to lose every one of its remaining 11 games (hee hee), and for Tottenham to win (snort) every one of their remaining games. If Arsenal do not score any more goals this season (snicker snicker), all Tottenham would need is to have an average winning margin in each of their last 11 games of (ssckrrnnghghh) ... 3.6 goals!

Look, I'm not trying to throw cold water on your drinking plans. Go for it. But technically, I think it is really more like "St. Totteringham's Day Eve." Even though watching a Spurs match must bring to mind "Groundhog Day" instead. Look at it this way -- you are off the hook for that 11th pint.

You read my mind, Montreux. It feels almost as good as Christmas Eve when I was a mere lad...
