Supposedly up on US soccer's website today, does anyone know when or where the link is to sign up for the group. Not that I want to pay the $50 to be a part of US soccer's official supporters club, but want the opportunity to buy tickets first. Thanks.

Yeah, supposedly they were going to have it available at ussoccerstore.com, but I don't see it yet....

this is all fine and dandy but I am still not sold on the USSF having control of a SG so I will stick with the American Outlaws.

I agree, but like the perks of having first crack at World Cup tickets.

Thanks. Just purchased it. They actually take you to a separate site to complete the "registration" for the supporters' club.
This is my $50+ (incl. tax, shipping & handling) investment for World Cup Tix next year. Hope it pays off....

Looks like more of a fan club than a Supporters Group:
All of the benefits below are available for an annual membership fee of $49.95. Enrollment begins today (April 15).
FOUNDING FAN OFFER: Fans joining in 2009 will earn special recognition as Founding Fans with the opportunity to help build U.S. Soccer SC from the ground up, providing a collective voice of U.S. Soccer supporters around the world. These members will receive a special-edition scarf, the annual gift for 2009, so they can proudly display their status as U.S. Soccer SC Founding Fans. Founding Fans will have the opportunity to further influence the ethos of U.S. Soccer SC by helping draft a Fan Constitution.
FIFA WORLD CUP TICKETS: U.S. Soccer SC members will have priority status to purchase 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup tickets through U.S. Soccer, with access ahead of the general public.

Are you sure? If I interpreted their website correctly and if US Soccer doesn't put their WC tickets on sale until after April 15th, you'll have to renew your membership before you have priority. The membership is only good for a year.

Let's be clear here - this is not a Supporter's Club. It's a $50 charge to get on the list for participation in the 2010 WC US Soccer ticket lottery - oh, and they're throwing in a mediocre scarf (and a yearbook!).
Don't get me wrong, this is way better than the fax ordering chaos of 2006 (though that was free), but if I win this round of the FIFA ticket lottery (and I probably won't), I see absolutely no reason to join this "club." I'll stick with the Outlaws either way. Of course, should I not win the FIFA lottery, I'll one of the first in line to become an esteemed "Founding Fan." - what other choice do I have if I want tickets through US Soccer?
I'm with Tankfantry, US Soccer shouldn't be in the business of supporters clubs. But, since this is hardly a supporters club, why even call it that? They should be upfront about it and call it a "$50 WC Ticket Lottery Fee (w/free scarf and yearbook!)"

I don't trust the USSF having control of the supporters groups. I'll stick with AO also.
Note this language. You're not guaranteed anything other than the right to pay $50.
Do I automatically get priority status for 2010 FIFA World Cup tickets when I purchase a membership?
Yes. Priority status for 2010 FIFA World Cup tickets is an automatic benefit for all fans joining the U.S. Soccer SC in 2009. Please note, priority status does not guarantee that you will get tickets to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. For additional information regarding 2010 FIFA World Cup tickets, please see the 2010 FIFA World Cup Ticketing FAQs.

ive joined up....$100 for two years of membership is worth the chance for WC tickets to me. last few world cups i have had to pay scalpers for at least two matches each so if that $100 saves me even one scalpers price, im happy. thanks USSF! now, about the away match tickets.....

Going to the world cup isn't really a reality for me at the moment..... so I think i'll hold on to my money. As far as home game tickets are concerned, support the real supporters groups, buy from SA or AO.
Access to exclusive ticket pre-sales for select home U.S. Soccer National Team matches
With enough participants, this could be a good way to promote a friendly crowd at home qualifiers.
I think the fee looks a little steep, though. I'd lower it somewhat, or perhaps include small discounts on game tickets as a membership benefit , so that dedicated fans could earn back some of their membership fee by attending a bunch of games.

I'm guessing that they'll have the lottery for the 2010 tickets way before April 15th next year. If 2006 fiasco is any guidance, I think USSF got the initial allocation from FIFA around December'05....

Yes, and it took them at least two months to actually determine who was getting the tickets if I remember correctly.
Joining this will guarantee you world cup tickets. The demand for tickets to South Africa will be FAR less than Germany in 06.
I'll probably join just to be safe.

I'm solidly in the Sam's Army camp. Have been pretty much since it's inception in the 90's.
Accordingly, I am diametrically opposed to the concept of an official supporter's club run by US Soccer. I'm a firm believer in the grassroots efforts of SA and AO to build up the fanbase in this country and think this are definitely on the right track.
I've got 24 caps under my belt (dating from 1997) with a few more coming this summer. With this new system, my loyalty carries no weight whatsoever (not that it did before, either). I think it should count for something, though.
That said, I signed up.
I admit it.
But here's why:
I usually travel to matches with a group of 10-15 'regulars', most of whom have more caps than I do. We're scattered all over the country, but we fly in and meet up, share hotel rooms and tailgate/party together. We've been to World Cups, Confed. Cups, Gold Cups, you name it. When it comes time to get WC tickets, this will increase our chances of getting tickets for our group.
Besides, what's not to say thay US Soccer, with this new system in place (and subsequent revenue) will pull the plug on the informal arrangements thay've had in place previously with SA and AO to distribute supporter's section tickets at matches? There are no guarantees. Joining the USSG is the safe route.

This "club" is no supporters group at all. Sure you can buy tickets ahead of release dates, but they are still going to give the "traditional" groups pre-sales.
The whole point of this is to end the fiasco of the 2006 fax-********up. Now, I have no dreams of going to SA unless I win the lottery, so I won't be joining until after the WC. With that said, if/when I do join, and I am still denied WC tix from this, I would burn soccer house to the ground.
$50 bucks is a lot of money...and I'm wondering on what USSF plans on doing with it.
Lastly, I'd rather see USSF solve the WC ticketing problem with a points system. With your ticket stubs, you could prove what games you've been to. The more games you have under your belt, the more points you have. Qualifiers would be worth more than friendlies. Away matches would be worth even more. Thus, at world cup matches, we'd have our most hardcore supporters(they deserve it), rather than cooperate sponsors who want a vacation(while wearing ridiculous Elvis costumes).

I agree this is nothing but a $$ grab! I'm still pissed about the 2006 WC ticket/fax fiasco. I remember reading the FAQ before that began where they were asked and assured everyone that they had enough phone lines. No way am I paying $50 for the "privilege" of repeating that. I won't be shocked if US Soccer goes with a stupid fax system again, instead of through the Internet.
I learned my lesson last time. You should go through FIFA first for WC tickets and only use USSF as a last resort. FIFA was much better organized last time. You could actually apply online and pay with a credit card. I'll never apply for WC tickets through US Soccer again, unless the WC is actually being held in the USA.
I like the idea of a points system where you reward your most loyal fans. US Soccer makes more $$ off of the people who would have a high points total than anybody else, and now they want to charge them again for essentially nothing in return.

Those pre-sales are available to any groups on any match. Whether its SA, AO or you and a group of your friends, if you have a group of 20 people you qualify for group tickets. There has been no indication that this will change.
