With Chelsea's midfield filling up quickly, reports (though they are british tabloid reports) are a deal is in the works

any word?

Because... we need one more midfielder and one less defender?

This is one of the dumber rumors I have ever heard. What would it do for us? Giggs has a few more years and Ronaldo is Ronaldo. Our backline fell apart the moment Rio left so selling him would just be ********ing ourselves.

and what does Duff give us other than a one man team *attitude* and poor hair. Let him wallow at the Bridge thinking of playing everyday and being a star where he came from. Where was it , Blackburn?, and for what, glory, the bench and pounds.

Are the benches more comfortable at Old Trafford than the ones at Stamford Bridge?

*swish* :)

But seriously, while I wouldn't mind having Duff, it doesn't seem like he'd do much more than be the Nicky Butt of the left side. And the second half of this season has shown us all just how important Rio is to the club.

And Speedy - saying it's sarcasm takes away from the effect altogether.

Actually, I think Duff is a pretty good left winger, although I rate Robben a notch higher. If United could get him for cheap, it would be worth a look. But, there's no way Chelsea give him up cheaply after all the cash that they paid for him. And if you think United would give up Rio...

I agree.. he just does not have the hair to be a super star.... ive maintained that for years... maybe if he gets a better barber, lifts weights, grows 2 inches, learns to pass the ball before dribbling (a complaint we had about Ronaldo, but he has recovered due to better hairing) [<- no, it was not a mistake] and becomes a national symbol of pride, becomes the best leftwinger ever to play in England and is mentioned on the simpsons then he can come... until then... he can moan and cry about how bad the food is in russia...

 Well, that Faulknerian stream of consciuosness aside (food in Russia?), why would we do this? Duff has proven to be our most important player this year (and he starts when fit; he doesn't sit on the bench) and we already have two world class CBs. Why would we lose width to gain a CB who'll likely spend a lot of time on the sideline?

Weird rumor.

SAF would never sell a world class player who pissed him off real bad would he? surely he has not done that before? If SAF thought Rio ruined this season for him (and part of next) he is capable of transferring him to Qatar
