Well, I missed the letters I had videos lined up for. I saw them in '85 at the VFW hall in Baton Rouge. Great place to see a show back in the day. That particular video is pretty subtle. I watched it three times before I saw the rocking horse.
G for both Great Society and Grace Slick with the earlier (and, IMO, superior) version of Somebody to Love. Plus, Grace Slick's legs.
R is for Richard Berry -- Have Love, Will Travel ...Bow bop-bop-Bow bop-bop-Bow ba-Bow-ba-Bow.... EDIT: Pipped by Jack White! Arrrrghh...
Turning Japanese by the Vapors Was just talking to an old friend who reminded me of a conversation we had years ago where we tried to think of every masturbation-related song we could. Found myself singing this song afterwards, my 10-year-old says "Those are weird lyrics", so I pulled this up for him. He dug the song, but I didn't try to explain the subtext.
When I was in college, a guy on my dorm floor was a graphic design major. His final assignment was an album cover (remember those?) of his choosing. We talked him into a ten-track compilation called "Masturbation Rock" featuring songs by the Vapors, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, and several others I can't recall. The cover consisted of a highly stylized porn mag and a tube of KY. Dude got the only A of his college career.
W is for Stevie Wonder's Big Brother -- one of my favorite songs of his. So I was wondering why more people didn't cover it, and stumbled onto this very cool live cover from some guys in Vienna. Quite nice.
Sorry for deviating but the guitar player on the right looks like Eddy Murphy which reminds me of this.
