This is based on the article that came out today in Sports Business Daily: http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2011/11/14/Media/YouTube.aspx

Soccer and action sports were the two mentioned in the article as starting point. The question is would be the game-changer some media analysts have been opining about when talking about how new media would radically change the way we view sports? We already have the experience with Copa America. I think, if anything, this might portend a major threat to the pay-per-view operators because companies like Google could, if they want to, outbid any PPV company for any rights, especially when it comes to association football from South America. Now the issue here is would there be enough bandwidth to fulfill the demand having something like WCQ's from Conmebol would create. I doubt they would effectively be able to geoblock this and they might not want to, considering that the point of signing up MLS would be to expose that league worldwide.

    What do you think?

I would love it if Youtube became an alternative for matches that used to go to pay per view. ESPN3 Is kind of doing some of that now, no?

But I still think streaming events will eventually be limited by broadband providers (especially those that are verticals) and the prices will eventually go up for consumers either directly (via a high bandwidth tier) or indirectly (the ESPN3 model).

The first thing I saw was "Kickette's 'Finest 5' - The World's Hottest Footballers".

    Not an auspicious start.

I'm currently watching "The Mixer" recapping the weekend.

I'm wondering what the value is when they don't show any video. It's basically just a podcast.
