Column (with highlight videos) of Joe Gallardo of Monterrey and the US U17s: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/the9...ing-of-a-new-generation-of-american-strikers/
Oh my, what a steaming pile of overblown hype. The article describes Gallardo as a Monterrey U17, but he isn't. He plays in a lower division than that, and last I checked, he wasn't even the leading scorer on that team.
I agree that the article is overblown, but to continually use your Monterrey U17 argument doesn't take into account that presently the Monterrey U17 roster lists no 98's and the oldest is 8/97 with much of the roster 96's. Just sayin'.
http://www.thefa.com/news/competiti...lham-semi-final-first-leg#c40837hLV0Gjfgvh.99 Ten-man Fulham fought from two goals down in their FA Youth Cup Semi-Final first leg to earn a 2-2 draw against Reading. Strikes from Robert Dickie and Tariqe Fosu put the Royals youngsters in front with little more than half an hour played. Emerson Hyndman pulled one back with 30 minutes remaining before Patrick Roberts levelled matters to take a draw back to Craven Cottage.
OT but more info: A recent blog post points to an old profile of Suh that said his father was a pro in Cameroon and his sister was herself a high-level player. http://www.oregonlive.com/playbooks-profits/index.ssf/2014/04/ndamukong_suh_returns_to_socce.html
Brian Sciaretta @BrianSciaretta US U18 forward Andrija Novakovich has signed a pro deal with Reading FC http://m.gomarquette.com/m/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/040414aaa.html
Question: Does anyone have a list of our U18's and U20's and the clubs/MLS teams they're signed to? Or is my best bet compiling a list by digging through these threads?

Check the pinned U-20 thread. I don't think there's an equivalent for U-18s, but relatively few of those guys ('97s) are pro right now).

There's non-EU limits, so Spain doesn't really bother scouting here. Yomba might be Cotonu eligible, and wouldn't count as a non-EU player.

Emerson Hyndman @emersonhyndman 15m What a night! Made it to the FA Youth Cup Final! http://instagram.com/p/miCV6ZJjNJ/ http://www.thefa.com/news/competiti...-youth-cup-semi-final-second-leg-match-report Fulham (1-4- 4-2): 1 Marek Rodak, 2 Ryheem Sheckleford, 3 Jordan Evans, 4 Liam Donnelly (C), 5 Cameron Burgess, 6 Solomon Sambou, 7 Joshua Smile, 8 Emerson Hyndman, 9 Moussa Dembele, 10 Patrick Roberts, 11 George Williams. The only mention of Emo in the game report is that he appears to have conceded a penalty.
Was a little soft but probably a correct call, caught his opponent's ankle, wasn't a good angle to try to stick a foot in. Hyndman appeared to have been involved in all five goals in this game. On Fulham's first, he passed the ball to the player who drew a PK+red. On Reading's first, he was called for the PK. On Reading's second, a dribbler on a long run shook him off far too easily before drilling an open long-range shot. On Fulham's second, he dropped the ball to a shooter who hit the crossbar before the rebound was tapped home. On the gamewinner (this one I'm not 100% sure was Hyndman), I'm pretty sure that he was the one who stole the ball and broke down the right, squaring a neat ball that Dembele misplayed slightly. At this level, he looks like an awfully good player, skilled, active, full of ideas. However, Fulham's forwards are much more explosive physically and are the ones who received the praise from the commentators. In terms of straight-ahead speed, he was probably the slowest player on the field. This is Fulham's first ever FA Youth Cup final, but before that comes Dallas Cup (minus at least one of their star forwards). PS not a good sign for Gogic at Reading, as he sits the bench behind a keeper who's a year younger than he is.
