Reminds me too much of that tool Wozniak who likes to play on his Segway.

    I rather like Sneezy. It's a name that's so bad, it's good.

    Just out of curiosity:

Why is there no mention of Mannone in here? Has he expressed a desire to leave the club of late, or he is just deemed not good enough compared to the other keepers?

I remember his run of games early on in last season and he seemed quite decent... with that clean sheet against Fulham and all...

Any keeper can have a decent run of games (see Shabaan, Rami), but Mannone is not good enough for Arsenal. His handling is a bit dodgy and otherwise he seems solid but unspectacular. Sneezy is clearly the guy that Wenger sees as the future #1.

    fair question re: manonne
he played 8 senior games, conceded 8 goals, but 2 were penalties and we didn't lose any of those 8 games (6 wins, 2 draws).
the first one against standard liege looked a bit soft though, and he didn't seem to impose himself to keep the shirt.

Good question. I think he is tainted with the stain of having been an Arsenal keeper in a year where we had so many issues at the position that all are held in poor regard.

He doesn't seem to be in Arsene's equation really either. Seems Arsene has it down to Sneezy and Flappy.

And he marginally meets the desire for a new Mad Jens as he speaks German and his parents are both German-born.

i'm inclined to agree with you that signing one of those guys is the way to go, but i just don't want the club to pay a kings ransom for one. tough decision for arsene. in arsene we trust??? i dunno

edit: 10-15 million spent i could live with

If we do sign him, can someone mock this up but with the spelling changed and a picture of him as Yogurt?

Players have a finite shelf life, they should look out for themselves first as the clubs will surely do the same. I fail to see how we're sending a message that we are serious about competing. I assume that AW is thinking that none of our rivals strengthened themselves so if we just make some minor tweaks and by minor tweaks I mean allowing similar horrid goalkeeping and defensive performances to be the norm, then yeah I guess we are serious about competing. We will not win CL with that sort of thinking. Could steal the EPL I suppose and perhaps FA Cup.

you dont know any of this for sure. I would say that it takes a different set of skills to be a goalkeeper for a club like Fulham than a club like Arsenal.

With us he's going to have to endure being unchallenged for large parts of a match and then have to come up big at a moments notice. I would think that it takes a strong individual to remain focused despite little interaction in a game.

There's no reason for us to believe that he will be miles better than Almunia at this point...unless you watch Fulham as much as you watch Arsenal which I really doubt.

Besides, at the WC he made a decent list of comedic errors that surprisingly have gone unnoticed or people just seem to be turning a blind eye, which I don't get.

A wheely good World Cup has proven to be a prelude to a move to the Serie A for Keisuke Honda, accord’ing to Goal.com. Honda, who has a great engine, will be given a civic reception in Milan to celebrate his move to AC, where he will be given licence to have a free roll, as he tries to drive the club forward and other assorted puns.

Schwartzer was Fabianski WOAT in the WC, I don't want that dude anywhere near the Emirates unless he's playing for another squad.

taking into account the risks associated with Schwarzer, he is still equal or greater than Almunia. That's why it makes sense.

Having read the last few pages, I had to check arsenal.com to see if we had signed Schwartzer.

That said, he's a mild upgrade over what we have, and leaves Wenger the option of a) installing Sneezy if he's good enough, or b) buying a long term solution if Sneezy is not good enough.

I'm ok with throwing 3.5m down the toilet for a decent keeper for a year. I don't think that it's too much to say that Almunia, all by himself, has cost this team 5-7 points last year. If Schwartzer can make up 3-4 of those points, it could be the difference between 2nd and 3rd or 4th and 5th.

Question. Has Wenger ever said we were in for a new keeper?

When asked if he was interested in Schwarzer he said 'not really'.

When he said there was no Number 1 at Arsenal he was clearly referring to there being... well, no number 1. Everyone has to fight for their spot.

Then he said when asked of Almunia's absence that there is competition in big clubs and that he had to fight for his spot. Which the media immediately took as indication he was looking for a new keeper, which makes no sense.

Knowing Wenger, Fabianski will be number 1, Mannone number 2, and Scizzy (prefer it to sneezy) number 3. Almunia may be off somewhere. I highly doubt we'll sign anyone though, already having 4 keepers and all.
