It's just that the deck is stacked against Mexicans who aren't born here becoming citizens in a timely manner. No Green Card lottery, 5-10 year waits for a family-sponsored Green Card, less likely to come over on work or educational related visas.
I am actually curious, just for my own curiosity, how many of Torres, Castillo, Corona etc's parents are US citizens, or were when they were born.
Eric Davies (FC Dallas Academy) Defender Has been called into Canada's U17 WC team. Roster will be cut from 24 to 21 for the tourney. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...referral&utm_content=News&utm_campaign=Unpaid Matt Greer (Philly Union Academy) Forward was invited into a Canadian U17 camp earlier in the year, but didn't make this roster. http://the11.ca/2013/08/02/the-americans-are-coming-to-play-for-canadas-u-17-team/
A bit more from Eric Davies on his Canada U17 call-up: http://www.fcdallas.com/news/2013/10/eric-davies-reflects-u-17-world-cup-callup
It's surprising to me that there are so few American-born players on Canada's roster. There have got to be a lot more Eric Davies' out there if Canada is willing to dig....................
The U17 World Cup is underway. Davies has made the Canadian roster. Christopher Bared (Soccer Academy of USA in Florida) is a defender on Panama's roster. He played 62' in their opening round match. He has been invited by USSF into one of the regional training center events. ESPN3 is covering the tournament, if you'd like to watch.
Eric Davies played 90 minutes in Canada's 1:1 draw with Iran at the U17 World Cup. He also earned a yellow card.
For the record, some Bared highlights... It's from May, but an interesting story and Q&A with Fortune here. In early 2011 Andre was invited to train with the United States U-15 team and was also part of the U.S. U-15 Academy League. At age eleven he was spotted by former Tottenham Hotspurs player Steve Archibald while he was in the U.S on business. Archibald was so impressed by what he saw, that it led to Fortune being given the opportunity to spend two weeks at European giants FC Barcelona’s Football Academy. In August 2011 Andre was also invited to train with Manchester City where he suffered a fractured leg in his third scrimmage game with City's U-15 team. http://www.socawarriors.net/mens-youth-team/youth-team-news/mens-u17/12448-fortune-favors-andre.html

Raheem Taylor-Parkes played for the Canadian U17s in two friendlies against the U17 Residency Program boys. http://www.ussoccer.com/news/u-17-mnt/2013/11/131118-u17s-sweep-can.aspx

Derick Kobi Morris looks like he has played for the Croatian U17 squad and is provisionally cap tied: http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/darrick-kobi-morris/profil/spieler_205936.html http://www.uefa.com/under17/season=2012/teams/player=250042629/ Born in US with an American father according to another poster.
Brian Sciaretta @BrianSciaretta2m Potential #usmnt forward Julian Green makes Bayern Munich's Champions League roster for Wednesday game vs CSKA Moscow http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1628732/julian-green-called-bayern-munich-squad?cc=5901…
He would have been a sophomore at Santa Barbara City College last fall; it's two-year school. No idea where he might be now.
Josh Deaver @JoshDeaver 3h [Hopeful, but ultimately resigned sigh] RT@normusings Munich paper AZ writes that Julian Green might get a start for Bayern tomorrow...
Green came on in the 87th minute for Bayern today in a UCL match against CSKA Moscow. It was his first team debut.
Not sure if he is a Yank or not, but here's a story about Ricky Garbanzo: Garbanzo said his family moved from Costa Rica when he was 6 years old because they “wanted to have a different life.” They first moved to Gastonia, N.C., before eventually settling in Rock Hill. He still has family in Costa Rica, though, and this past summer he went down there to train with the country’s under-20 team. http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/2013/11/30/3874041/coastal-soccer-cashes-in-with.html He has played some ODP ball but that doesn't require citizenship. http://www.goccusports.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/ricky_garbanzo_772077.html
