good friend of mine from Rennes (season ticket holder) had some troubling concerns. says M'Vila has impressed for them, but has really plateaued... reached his peak (which is troubling for such a young player). take that with a grain of course..
How can you say a player plateau's when their 22? That's like saying Ramsey has done the same. You simply don't know at that age and cannot say.
I'm not going to discredit a season ticket holders opinion, but I'm sure moving from Rennes to Arsenal and playing with a better team will also improve him. I doubt he's reached his peak at 22.
that's what i was thinking too...sometimes players need to play with better players to lift their game. he's probably plateaued b/c the team has plateaued.
because that fan is slightly bitter that he is leaving. A lot of us, myself included, have done the same when Arsenal players leave. I remember reading from some Soto fans last year about Ox leaving, and they saying he isnt as good as the hype, etc.
Again, Lenaic is a pretty level headed frenchman... Just passing along what he told me. He is just as happy about the money coming in on the sale honestly. You should of seen his reaction when Rennes qualified for the Uefa Cup in 2001.
Could Song and the M'ville play at the same time? Just curious. Or one of them can play in Aron Ramsy position? I dont know how to DM can be fitted together tho...
Of course they can. I dont even look at Song as DM considering types of positions you seem him take up on the pitch. Between him and Arteta it seemed Arteta played deepest of the 3. Which might be why we have struggled since he got hurt.
its not a diss of your friend, Im just saying that fans tend to underrate their players when they are about to leave. We have done it here. Its natural, I get it. Its not an insult on him, its just something that happens.
I thought you watched Rennais for a decade@Texas? I"m confused. Anyway, I think big players at small clubs eventually grow disenchanted. Seen it happen before.
I've heard a number of times the 2 up and coming box to box midfielders are Javi Martinez and M'Vila. I just hope one of those sources are right.
i don't understand the mindset that "(if) we buy player X, we absolutely must get rid of player A". i didn't understand it before and, after this season, understand it less. i know we've fought depth issue every single year but this year has been absolutely special with the way we've had people break down. it's not just the standard "holy crap, we have a (metric) crap ton of injuries" but it's been multiple cases of "holy crap, we have a (metric) crap ton of injuries AT A POSITION". what's wrong with depth?!? equally important, there's been at least two different periods i can think of where we all noticed that alex song was absolutely worn down but, ultimately, we had no alternatives for him to sit (even assuming wenger buys into the whole concept of fatigue). depth is, now and again, a good thing. even ignoring the ACN.

Interestingly, all these new " cool off" rumors are coming from Arsenal. News from France are that it is basically a done deal. It may just be that the Gunners are trying push the this matter aside to avoid distracting and destabilizing the team before the important final game.
That is an understatement. Remind him he said he wanted half the team gone(in the Norwich match thread) and he calls people a crack head because he got butt hurt. Maybe we can clone Scally and the clones can be new transfers. Also I realize this belongs in the other teams thread, but it is transfer worth news: Manchester City fans are expected to sign a one year contract extension if their side manage to clinch the Premier League title this season.
